Let me start off by saying that I hate tech just like everyone else and then some. Nothing makes me happier than stomping their asses and knowing we are winners of the state for another year. Has it been a down year? Yes it has, but that doesn't mean I don't want to destroy the maggots.

I wonder how our defense will respond and prepare for the option under CTG? I'm guessing CTG doesn't have too much experience setting a game plan for that garbage they run. It's known that stopping the option is done by playing flawless assignment football, well ask Houston how well we have played assignment football...

Not to mention this is a rivalry game and you see some crazy plays in big games like this. Am I worried? Nah, I'm just saying what has crossed my mind.

Tech has one of the worst defenses in CFB, period. Just last week they gave up 334 yards in the air and 109 on the ground to DUKE. Do I think they were looking ahead, absolutely. Do I think it will make a difference? Absolutely not.

Tech leads CFB is rushing yards per game at something over 300 YPG but I am too lazy to look up the exact number but I know it's a lot. I don't think Murray and Co. will have a hard time moving the football and I do love moving the ball through the air but there is nothing I like more than to beat a team at what they do best. Honestly, I would rather see us run it down their throat for 60 minutes! With that said, I will take any win, I just like to be greedy when it comes to beating them. How great will it be for us to run up about 300 yards rushing with Crowell in the stands? It would be perfect.

I can see it now as the score board flashes Georgia 45 - Away 23, the field covered in red, players celebrating and dancing in front of the hedges, Sanford stadium at a climax all while CPJ slowly walks off the field with his head down - I live for that, I hate that man - I hate tech - I hate georgia tech.

This is the way I see this game going down...

The first quarter is going to be HUGE! Georgia needs to come in to William Bryce and fight off the crowd...
We need to come in and run the ball - run it with authority and keep the SC offense off the field. Of course, I would like to do this the whole game, but the first quarter will be the most crucial IMO. Personally I wouldn't mind seeing any points in the first quarter, whatever we can do to kill the crowd...

Obviously, if we run the ball the way we should, this will open up the play action for AM and we can continue to pound their thin OL.

After half time, I think it will be all dawgs! Bobo will grow a pair and get Wooten or B.Smith out in space to give us a quick strike for 7. Grantham goes wild on the sidelines and our defense rises up with some big stops. I'm going to call a big time return out of B.Smith in the second half to set up another score. This lead will not be given away, our defense FINISHES the chickens off in style in the fourth quarter with some bone crushing sacks against Garcia!

I'm going to guess that Spurrier's visor has some grass stains on it come the end of the game and of course he'll be sporting that disappointed clown face he wears so well.

Game 1 vs ULL

I must say I was impressed on Saturday with a 55-7 win over ULL!!

It wasn't the win or the points scored, it was what we gave up...

We ONLY had one turnover (fluke interception)
We ONLY allowed 128 total yards (60 of those yards came from one play)

I thought A. Murray looked good, he made good decisions, he passed accurately, etc.
As of Saturday he did exactly what he needed to do.

It's hard to go through and say we did this right and this wrong from my own opinion. Truthfully, I thought the whole damn game was badass! To bring in a new defensive scheme, work in a new qb and play without our leading rusher and wide receiver from last and still look that impressive - STRONG in my opinion!

With that said, what we saw Saturday was very generic.

We saw the same rushing formations, the same wide receiver sets and a defense that didn't really rush the passer that much. Come this Saturday, we should see a lot more...

I am actually going to do a pre-game write up before the South Carolina game! I know, I haven't been very active lately with my blog..apologies.

Just to throw this out there, I loved the game. I LOVED Grantham raising hell on the sidelines. I think this team needs that, I think it is exactly what has lacked since BVG left.

In my opinion the best two play sequence was this..

Sanders Commings picks off a pass (which was an extremely good play - he stayed with the ball for 5 yards) and he curls around to run the other way, is just about to get tackled and Shawn Williams LEVELS the WR that was behind him!! FANTASTIC!
Next play from scrimmage, Munzenmaier absolutely runs a Rajun Cajun over!
I just loved the two plays in a row that were that physical, it was just great to see!

I've got to throw a shout out to Christian Robinson as well, HELLUVA game!

So I don't have too much to report on the Dawgs today. Since my last post, we have picked up to "war daddies" (if you are a fan of UGAsport.com then you know the verbage).

The Dawgs got verbal commits from

OL Watts Dantzler

and

OL Hunter Long

I was happy to see both of these fine young men make a verbal pledge to play between the hedges.

Still on recruiting news, there was some info that came out on Justin Garrett the ILB from Tucker. I thought Garrett was all Dawg honestly but after reading on him, I am definitely not getting that vibe - disappointed.

Also, Ray Drew made some rounds this past weekend. He visited UF and FSU, both for a short time. Sounds like to me that Drew knows where he wants to go but is trying to assure himself by going to other schools. I feel that Drew will sign with UGA. By taking these visits it gives him the assurance that he did do his homework. Great news for UGA if this is the case.

Now I am no Nick Saban fan but I did see this article about ol'nicky and I must say, IT IS IMPRESSIVE.

Anyone watched the world cup? I haven't been able to keep up with it too much either, but I was streaming it at work when Donnovan made the goal after the 90 minute mark to move the US to the next round - Incredible!

Something I would like to touch on is the conference changes or the potential of the SEC changing or expanding.

I have purposely not posted about this and there is two reasons for this.

#1 - I do not like the idea at all.

#2 - There is way too much speculation going on for me to even come close to accurately painting an SEC future picture. I will continue to not post about the expansion until I know what is going on and more than likely I will not like an expanding unless we brought in Texas and Oklahoma. I don't think it will happen though.

Logan Gray has a decision to make - will he stay and compete at the University of Georgia or will he try to transfer for a better opportunity?

AT this point it's a waiting game for the coaches, the players and all of the red and black followers.

At this point the football team has two scholarship quarterbacks on campus - Logan and Aaron. This summer, Hutson Mason will enroll and be ready to compete.

The G-Day game, just over a week ago sure did stir the Georgia QB pot. Zach Mettenberger seemed to play well and the love fest started.
Just as fast as his name came up in the QB race this week it disappeared this weekend. CMR let it be known that Zach was dismissed from the team on Saturday night.

There is a lot of whispers about reasons at this point and I will leave them at that. I believe that his dismissal is directly correlated with his arrest in Remerton, Ga but I will leave the details up to someone who has the exact facts.

With that said, the QB picture is much clearer now. We have 3 scholarship quarterbacks as of now. Of course there is Logan Gray and Aaron Murray battling it out for the starting role. This summer Hutson Mason will be on campus and should be participating in all practices.

A Must Read

This article was posted on a pay site and I think it's worth posting on here. What a great read and more people should have that chance, so here it is...

"Richt continues to show he is the class of the conference."

When I write something good about someone’s actions, I’m called a homer. When I write something bad about someone’s actions, I’m called a hater.

Sometimes it’s worth the hate mail. This is one of those times.

For my money, there is no better representative of an SEC university than Georgia’s Mark Richt.

Last week, Richt bit his tongue as messageboards and call-in shows lit up with folks discussing his “renegade” program. When it was learned that several of his players had not actually been involved in harassing a married couple in an Athens taxi, Richt had an opportunity to lash out.

But rather than bark about the media or point a finger at a writer, Richt kept his cool and discussed the dangers of rushing to judgement in our instant-media world.

There were no “we’d be going at it right now” comments. No “be very careful” warnings. There was only a lesson… that sometimes the first word on an issue isn’t the correct word.

We shouldn’t be surprised by Richt’s even-keeled response. Last year his Georgia team suffered through its worst year under his leadership (which for the record was still an 8-win season that ended in a bowl victory). Midway through the year, Richt was questioned about the direction of his program. Several writers suggested that UGA football was (and is) in decline.

With two SEC titles, an average of 10 victories per season, and more success in Athens than anyone since Vince Dooley, Richt had the motivation and the ammunition to jab back.

He didn’t.

No one was banned from practice. No newspapers were cut off from all things Dawg.

In fact, when I asked him on an SEC teleconference if it was frustrating to deal with such “the-sky-is-falling” reaction, Richt took the high road. He gave an open, honest answer that could best be summed up as follows: “It’s just part of the job and I’m lucky to have the job.”

Last week, Richt had to do what is probably the least favorite part of his job ? he had to dismiss a player from his team. Montez Robinson had been in trouble before, over a number of screw-ups. But the linebacker’s third arrest in six months could not be ignored. So Richt ended his Georgia playing career.

But the story doesn’t end there.

Robinson is still in the Athens-Clarke County Jail. Having violated the terms of his probation from two previous arrests ? all three involved domestic disputes with a female Georgia student ? Robinson will have to spend at least a few more days in lock-up.

Guess who has visited him there.

“He’s just hurting,” Richt said after meeting with his former player. “He’s suffering right now. But we’re helping him understand that he can still have a bright future if from this point forward he does what he’s supposed to do, what he needs to do.”

Robinson is off his team. Richt has a program to run and nearly 100 other players to watch over. But Georgia’s head coach and some of his assistants have still taken the time to check in on and give encouragement to one that they had to leave behind.

Again, this kind of action shouldn’t surprise anyone. When linebacker Jamar Chaney was denied admission into UGA back in 2005, Richt helped convince Mississippi State’s Sylvester Croom to give Chaney a chance in Starkville.

That fall, as Georgia and State prepared to meet on the field, Chaney called Richt to thank him for his help. “We didn’t even talk about football much at all, except how he was doing,” Richt said at the time.

“It didn’t surprise me at all that Coach Richt did what he did,” Chaney said. “He’s a great man.”

Fans want undefeated seasons. The media want headlines. Richt may or may not supply enough of either to please those two camps, but he does provide something else in bunches ? class.

While Nick Saban and his disciples build moats around their programs and while Urban Meyer makes threats and shoots dirty looks, it’s good to know that there’s someone like Richt in the SEC coaching fraternity.

It’s one thing for a man to say, “I want my son to play for that man.” Many folks used to say that about Bobby Knight for gosh sakes.

But it’s far more important in the grand scheme of things for a man to say, “I want my son to BE like that man.”

Richt is human. At some point in the coming months, I’m sure he’ll do or say something out of character and I’m just as sure that this post will be jammed back into email box when he does.

That’s fine with me. Because year-in and year-out, no SEC coach shows more class, more compassion, more common decency than Mark Richt.

And, oh yeah, did I mention he wins 10 games per year?

I must say...I love Warren Belin!

This guy really fires me up. I guess I can plug UGAsports so here goes...

They have been releasing video of the practices being held and Warren Belin is really coaching our LB's up!! He's loud, he's demanding, he's hands-on, did I mention he's loud? He's got the LB's focused on technique and if it isn't done right, they do it again. The LB's also seem to be practicing at a very high tempo.
Not that everyone else isn't pushing their guys like Belin is, I'm just sayin'

Also a notable from the practice video - Kwame Geathers looks great and yes, he is a monster! Granted, he is 6'5

As far as the offense goes, I was actually able to see some extra practice footage (not from UGAsports). And yes I did ask if I could publish the footage but was turned down, sorry everyone.

All I was able to see was a ton of reps with the QB's working on short curl routes and check downs to the RB's.
With that said, you can't really say that one QB was better than the others...

Let's just say that one of the QB's looked a lot more comfortable making the throws.

Just two days ago Lonnie Gosha committed to FSU. This was a huge shock to most fans and coaches because just two weeks earlier Gosha has UGA at the top of his list.

Word got out this morning that Gosha had decommitted from FSU, of course everyone thought that was an April Fool's joke...reports tonight confirmed that Gosha has indeed decommitted.

This is great news, Gosha is a monster 2011 DT that Georgia is all over. Hopefully this turns in Georgia's favor!

Wednesday was a busy day. From the start in the morning everyone thought that since CMR hadn't made a move yet that he wasn't going to. Or if he was it would be after the bowl.

By noon yesterday the alert was on high. Rumors passed through sources faster than chinese food. What's going to happen, everyone was on pins and needles and like lightning - it was over. Coach Martinez, Jancek, and Fabris were out.

I felt like I needed more when that happened, I was left sitting there questioning what was next?? Is the next step going to be better? Will Georgia go out pay for what it needs to win? What are the recruits going to do?

Well I have some answers...very little though.

Let's first think about what just happened? Georgia just lost every defensive coach except for Garner. What does that mean? Will Garner be the next DC?
** NO he will not**

So is Garner just going to stay in the same position? I say yes IF he is happy. Will he take another job? Yes maybe. Garners future is foggy, no one really knows how he feels because he is always looking around. I can tell you he will not be the next DC though.

As far as Georgia getting with the program money wise. Sources say that Georgia is going to provide the necessary funds for CMR to go get a top coach and top assistants to fill the roles that are open.

The recruiting scene - we will know more in time. Most of the feedback has been positive but Nickel Robey stated that he would be "looking in another direction".
Another negative comment came from Jalen Fields who claims that his commitment is now "shaky".

Now that there is no speculating about Martinez being gone - bottom line is that Georgia has a role to fill. Who will it be? I have posted this before but here is the updated list of candidates.

Kirby Smart - (Alabama DC) Sources are stating that Kirby is the #1 target. CMR will go after Smart. Hard.

Vic Koenning - (Kansas State DC) No idea why his name is being circulated but I'm just passing the info here.

Mike MacIntrye - (Duke DC) Again, not sure why he is an interest (GT grad) but...he did get his masters at UGA and he has been solid everywhere he has been. I don't think he has a prayer at the job though.

Kevin Steele - (Clemson DC) Steele would be a great pickup, lots of experience, NFL experience and knows the recruiting trails in the south. Don't see us getting him from his Alma Mater though.

Tyron Nix - (Ole Miss DC) Nix is not even 40 yet and he has done an excellent job so far coaching. I don't see us taking him from Mississippi.

Bob Sanders - (Bills DL coach) Not sure how Sanders got in the mix? Sanders coached defensive positions while at Florida in the 90's against Richt. Is there a connection? We'll see...

Dick Bumpas - (TCU DC) Might be looking for a better opportunity? We'll see, TCU is #4 in the country. Bumpas has never been really successful until coaching behind Gary Patterson, so who's the genius?

Travis Jones - (Saints DL coach) He doesn't have a ton of experience in the NFL. Everyone seems to say great things about him. He's worked under Saban at LSU and at Miami. He now is working for Gregg Williams - his defense shut down the pats on Monday night. Maybe Travis isn't a DC but he would be one hell of an assistant.

Brian Van Gorder - (Falcons DC) Not much to say here, he's a proven stud.

Manny Diaz - (MTSU DC) Known to be one of the great young coaches. He played at FSU when Richt was there. The connection between two is there, but can Diaz handle an SEC defense right now?

Tommy Tuberville - (Unemployed) I don't like this pick but who knows?

I can list people all day, many think Georgia will score someone off of this list.

Well, that's all I know. It isn't much but I'm sure things will be popping soon. I would imagine something will happen quick with a DC. The faster we pull a coach in the better for our recruits to know what's going on.

Let's all take a moment of silence today and think about the good times with the coaches we just lost - there were a lot of good times.

You have to give it to these guys, maybe not the best results all the time but I can guarantee you they busted hump daily and tried their best. I hope these guys the best in the future and all three were damn good dawgs!

Wow! What an impressive Saturday night! Sorry so late for the post, I have been a little under the weather - that may have something to do with how hard I celebrated Saturday night...

As for the game - helluva game plan! Beat tech at their own game and do not let our quarterback lose the game. Whoever came up with that idea - genius!

Watching the Ealey and King tandem was special. For the first time I watched King run with a chip on his shoulder, for the first time it looked like the game and results meant something. With that said, we have already seen that side of Ealey, he has that attitude on every run. You can tell he isn't going to take any jive from anyone. Washaun taunting the tech student section, I'm still smiling about that!

This is what Washaun said after the game - "We had some holes open up early and it didn't take us long to see that they really didn't want to tackle us."

How about the attitude from these guys from the beginning? Both backs knew they were going to pound the ball, they knew the game plan was going to involve them heavily. King had "I run this state" written in silver marker down his arms. Ealey had it written on his glare stickers.

Paul Johnson talking after the game trying to down play the game. If the game doesn't mean much you don't make rings for winning the year before. You also don't strategically take the week off before the game if you don't care about winning.

I will say that CPJ did admit that we were unstoppable. I think that was more of his way of blaming it on his DC but still, he said it.

Now that the season is over, minus our bowl game, the buzz is on what CMR & Co are going to do about the coaching staff. I can say this, nothing has changed really. I checked sources ALL day yesterday - nothing...
Rumors are spreading like wildfire but nothing solid has been said.

I did get a good laugh yesterday at a guy who said he was at the airport in Tuscaloosa waiting to see if CMR would show up. Now that is dedicated. I am pretty sure if Georgia is going to make a run at Kirby Smart, it will at least be after the SEC Champ game; that is my opinion though.

And finally, The Tuberville rumors are insane. Everyone is thinking that the Tubs is coming in, now I know people lie just to cover up what is going on until the truth comes out, But this morning on the radio, Tommy specifically said he would not be interested in a DC job. He wants to be a head coach.

**One more major rumor that probably has some truth to it. Louisville fired its coach and word is that they have been talking with Charlie Strong the defensive coordinator for Florida. Charlie Strong is an awesome coach, that's great news for him if this is true. I'm sure a lot if SEC schools will be happy if the hire turns out.

This could force Georgia to make an early decision on coaching changes though. If Strong leaves, that will put Georgia and Florida in the DC hunt at the same time, possibly a position Georgia does not want to be in.

Is no news good news?

I guess it depends on if you want every Georgia football coach canned. Either way there isn't much news coming out of Athens right now. When you lose football games (a lot of them) to teams you should easily beat, not too many people are running their mouth.

The only question in Athens right now is...

How many points will CPJ score on us? Word is, it's going to get real nasty downtown on Saturday. All of the tech fans want to see CPJ embarrass CMR and the Dawgs. They want a score that will last forever. The thought is that this is definitely the year to do it...if Arkansas, South Carolina, Florida, Kentucky, & Tennessee can score at will then why can't tech put up 50+?
Even the ACC beat writers and ESPN ACC analysts are picking 40+ points for tech.

CMR said he is aware of the explosive offense the tech has, that it takes assignment football to hang with those guys. You know, that is true, stick to your lanes, move off of your blocks and make the tackle. Simple huh? Well guess what, that is the biggest problem with this Georgia team, assignments, discipline, and tackle football.
This late in the season let's just hope that they have learned by now!

This will most likely be my last post for the week since I will be taking a vacation leave for the holidays so I will make a half-ass prediction.

Georgia wins period. Why will they win, hell if I know, but I am calling it. Why wouldn't they win? Anyone can stop the option right? (only Miami has done it this regular season)
Look, we actually have the team to do it. We have a solid d-line (DE has to be able to read inside or out) and solid linebackers. I am no expert on the option so I am not too sure how CPJ's offense affects our secondary? I do know that the DB's are going to have to be able to come up and tackle - with that said I am going to feel sorry for little Brandon Smith if fat-ass Dwyer is headed his direction.
The last thing is the Safety job - Yes, I am scared as hell!!

I think #3 is going to put his hair down and bust heads on Saturday and he might even have a pick and solid coverage (wink-wink)!!!

No seriously, I know Georgia can win if they play the way they are capable of playing. I know, I know, I'm just saying...

I'm picking the Dawgs to win and by god I'm going to burn the house down if they do!!

A few things on my mind after the loss to Kentucky.

Is Kentucky really that good at kick returns? You would have thought Deion was back there the way we avoided kicking off. Is our kick coverage that bad? Can we not field athletes to handle Kentucky??

I have stood behind CMR with everything. I will question what is going on. How is it that "the best position to win" is Joe Cox? Is our recruiting that far off? How does an "offensive genius" in Richt not know that Joe Cox is this bad? How do we not have a backup quarterback? Logan Gray cannot play, no one has prepared him. WHAT are the offensive coaches doing? It is so embarrassing to know that we recruit solid classes year in and year out but I will be damned if we have a QB. Joe Cox single handedly lost this game - It's just embarrassing.

One question you might need to ask yourself when thinking about the future of Georgia football. Let's say Georgia does get things back together and starts putting together solid teams again.

Will they be able to beat Florida?
Why would we think yes? Don't tell me you are going to bring up 2007? Sure we can, we won, but Florida lost 4 games that year. So we beat them on their down year. Maybe that's what we can look forward to, just beating Florida when they are down. They have slaughtered us the last two.

Can we compete with Alabama now that Saban is there? Can you honestly say that Richt and the Dawgs are prepared better, coached better, confident enough to beat Alabama? Does Georgia field a team that pays attention to every single detail like Alabama?

What makes Alabama special to me? They always play to their strengths and nothing more. They protect their quarterback.

Does this sound like protecting your bone-head quarterback or playing to your strengths?? Your team is down a touchdown, you have rushed for 196 yards in the game so far (196 yards!!!), you have 48 yards to get in the end zone but we are still passing.
Of course you know what happens next...Cox throws a cupcake straight to the Kentucky lineman.

That kind of play call is shocking - wtf is going on? OR how about the toss play at the goal line? You shouldn't be tossing it at the goal line?? You run the football straight down their throat! The play call should have been a Cox sneak or a handoff to the FB. We had two downs to go 1-yard - we toss the football...embarrassing.

What are your thoughts?

Georgia has Joe Cox.
Georgia still continues to commit stupid penalties.
The play calling is heinous game in and game out.
#3 continues to play - need I say more?
We have no backup quarterback; it's either Cox or a true freshman.
Tennessee is out recruiting us.
Georgia Tech is by far the best football team in the state of Georgia.

Flashbacks

I watched the UGA vs AU game again and I tell you what - our offensive line was impressive!
They blocked very well for the run. Another thing I noticed is how well C King ran the ball, he just looked really smooth coming through the hole.
It reminded me of just downhill running that we haven't really seen too much of. We really pounded the football late in the game and it was awesome!

I can't get enough of the highlights - I get fired up watching RAMBO raise his arms after being put on the stretcher.

I hope we see more improvement this week against Kentucky and hopefully Thanksgiving weekend the O-line will be slaying tech's defense. Georgia is going to have to be successful in running the ball against them. They are going to do it to us. We will need to be able to control the clock and work on their defense. More to come on the nerds later though..

RIP UGA VII - The passing of UGA yesterday gave me a funny feeling. Something just doesn't feel right about it. Come tomorrow there will be no mascot on the field. The fans are talking "fan blackout" to remember the pup.
All of this got me thinking about how it seems correlated to Georgia football. Last year Georgia was #1 preseason, we were supposed to be sharp. We blacked out the Bama game and all we got was a black-eye beat down. It seemed like something was missing. From the season out all the expectations were down, a loss to Florida, and then to Tech. Rolling over to this year things were supposed to be different, the football team is young but CMR said they took another approach and prepared harder than ever. The season is down, now the Georgia mascot has passed. All of coaches could be hung in the off-season, some want Richt out and some say he'll never make it. A lot of people think Georgia is on the decline, the program is failing. It seems like something is missing. What is it? That can't be answered right now, at least not by me. Only time will tell, my bet is that we get it straightened out - Georgia will continue to fight...

This Georgia football team is fighting for a decent bowl bid, fighting for their coaches, fighting for their mascot, fighting for their pride, fighting for Veazey, and fighting for the seniors on this team. There might be something missing, there might be a lot of questions being asked but this team still has a lot to play for, a lot to look forward to. I hope they prove that by finishing up strong (especially against GT).

Georgia: Bowl Bound

Ok. So now the Dawgs are Bowl eligible. Where are they going to play? What bowl should we be hoping for? All this will depend on if we beat Kentucky and that shat-hole school in Atlanta.

So if Georgia wins this weekend against Kentucky they clinch second place in the SEC east.

Below are the SEC bowls we have/had a shot at listed in the best bowls from top-to-bottom.

So what does all of that mean? Well if we can beat Kentucky and the shat-hole school in Atlanta, Georgia has a good shot at getting to the Outback Bowl. However, if we lose to the shat-hole school in Atlanta then they may look to Tennessee since Georgia will be fresh off of a lose. Meaning we would be hopeful to get in the Chick-fil-a bowl or we could get pushed back to the Liberty or Music City Bowl.

Bottom line is that we need to beat Kentucky and the shat-hole school in Atlanta. By doing so, it should ensure the Dawgs of a trip to Tampa in the Outback Bowl vs a mighty Big Ten team.

If we don't win out look for Georgia to MAYBE get a bid to the Chick-fil-a Bowl but I suspect more like the Music City or Liberty. Bowl season can be tricky, the Bowl committees tend to like "hot" teams and if Georgia were to lose, god help me, it could really hurt our Bowl slot.

**When I say they like "hot" teams, disregard the 2007 season when Georgia was on F'in fire and some thought they were shafted out of the NC...we didn't play for the SEC title though.

A Great Night

Helluva game on Saturday night! It was very special to see the Dawgs fight back from down 14 in the first quarter. I was impressed with the lack of penalties, the Dawgs committed 4. The fact that we didn't have any turnovers played a big part in the win as well.

I have criticized CWM almost all year long, and rightfully so, BUT...

It was cool to see him so fired up on Saturday night. He was by far the most excited person on the sidelines. He jumped, he pumped his fists, he chest bumped players, he constantly ran up and down the sidelines. He seemed like a man on a mission that had a gameplan for Auburn and everything worked (after the first quarter). Thanks Willie.

I'm not saying CWM shouldn't be canned, It's not my decision - I just thought it was cool to see. Maybe I'm just happy that Georgia only surrenderd 24 points??

The running game looked solid as well. I thought Ealey and King complimented each other very well - Both averaged over 5 yards per carry. Check out the block King dishes out on the TD pass to Troupe - The Grit Tree

This weekend was a huge recruiting weekend as well. Georgia had a lot of recruits at the game. There have been good reports out of what Jeff Luc had to say, his teamate Deon Rogers, Brandon Burrows, Nickell Robey, Telvin Smith, Matt Elam, and Jeffrey Whitaker.

I know most are concerned about Jeff Luc. He still stayed the same, he doesn't want to lean one way or the other. He said he enjoyed it and that is about all you can get out of that kid - nonetheless it was still good news.

Two Tennesse player are shown the door in Knoxville. Janzen Jackson is the only one who still has a chance to stay on the team.

AJ Green will not play against Kentucky.

Rambo was back with the team Sunday night laughing and joking with his teamates. He will not play against kentucky either. As everyone know I have pushed for Rambo to play over #3 all year long. When he went down Saturday night I was sick. Glad to hear is recovering so fast. By the way, he basically saved that game with that physical hit on the goal line. He also should have had a pick but he and Reshad Jones both went after the ball. Solid play again Rambo!

Some Volunteers go to jail

Three major athletes are charged with armed robbery in Knoxville, Tn.

Here is a portion of the police report:

The victims stated that moments before calling 911, they were sitting in their parked vehicle, a 1998 Hyundai Elantra on the southwest corner of the convenience store, while their friend was inside. The victims stated they had parked next to a light blue Toyota Prius. The victims stated that a black male then approached, wearing a black hoodie, brandished a black semi-auto handgun, opened the drivers door and stated, "Give me everything you have." The victims stated that a black male then exited from the passenger side of the Prius, wearing a black hoodie, walked around to the front passenger door of their car, opened it, and stated, "Give us everything you've got." The victims stated that they all presented their wallets to the suspects and showed them that they did not have money. The victims stated that a third black male then approached and told the other two black males, "We've got to go." The victims then stated that the three got into the Prius and that it was last seen traveling southbound on Volunteer Blvd West.

As the officers received information about the suspects and vehicle, it was bolod so that other responding officers could attempt to locate it. A witness indicated there was a female driving the car and that it was occupied by three black males when she had observed it. As we continued to investigate, assisting officers observed the suspect vehicle in question, traveling near Gibbs Hall on Lake Loudoun Blvd. A felony stop was conducted on the vehicle, a 2010 Toyota Prius, light blue in color, on Neyland Dr near Leinard Ln. Four subjects were detained from the vehicle: a light-skinned black female, Marie Montmarquet and three black males: Janzen Jackson , Michael Edwards and Nukeese Richardson .

In plain view, officers observed two black hoodies on the back seat. Underneath the back seat towards the middle, officers located a black, CO2 powered pellet gun. Inside the glove box, officers located a marijuana grinder. A search of the suspects revealed one clear plastic baggie containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana in Montmarquet's jacket pocket. Montmarquet would later state that the marijuana grinder also belonged to her. Crime Lab responded to the scene and confiscated the hoodies, the pellet gun and the marijuana grinder. The vehicle was towed to the City Impound lot. The marijuana was confiscated by officers.

It was also mentioned on Rivals that Jackson didn't play last week because of a failed drug test.
Richardson also has been very upset about his playing time.

This is terrible news for some very talented athletes, these guys were supposed to be special. We'll see how this turns out but as of now it doesn't look good. I must say - I'm pleased.

The UT athletic director will probably frown upon this...

It's midweek already and I have been slacking on the blizzog. Maybe because we played Tenn Tech and they looked about as good as we did against Florida?

I was happy to see us play well though. We needed solid play before the Auburn game and that's what we got.

We did have a penalty fiesta though - is it that hard to know the snap count? CMR benched the players that committed penalties - I liked that, but it seemed as if the players enjoyed it. You would think that by being benched it would have cut back on the yellow flags...not these Dawgs, they tallied 11. That just isn't going to get it done on Saturday against Auburn.

I am still a firm believer that CMR will not get rid of CWM. I really don't think CMR has it in him. I have felt this way all along, I still won't believe it until it happens.

As I still think this, I read a very interesting article that seemed as if Georgia/CMR might already be looking around. I was shocked to see this but the article implies that CMR might not have any other choice but to shed CWM.

I get a lot of emails about who could be the new DC. I have stated before that CMR would promote from within. This source seemed to think otherwise...

What's my take on this? I still don't think CWM will be fired, I just have a feeling that he will still be there. Now, if CWM is recycled I believe we have a shot at only three of the coordinators listed above. This is my opinion only, I really have no clue...

Dick Bumpas - TCU --- I think this is possible only because he is on a small stage right now. He might be looking to become a more recognized DC and what better place to do that? The SEC.

Manny Diaz - Middle Tennessee State --- Same thing here, Manny seems to be making great strides with MTSU and he, I'm sure, would love to get the chance to run a big time program.

Kirby Smart - Alabama --- Kirby played for Georgia; I think if he would want it, he's in. I don't know why he would leave Alabama and Nick Saban? Why make a lateral move for probably less money? Also coming in to the picture here would be Florida State. As I posted earlier, Mickey Andrews is leaving FSU, Kirby was a Grad assistant at FSU, and so he would probably give them a look too.

I'm not a big fan of talking about "the next" DC for Georgia. I don't think anyone should be speculating this early, however I think it poses for an interesting conversation. If it does happen I hope that CMR really makes a solid choice, I am just afraid that Georgia will not pay appropriately to reel in the big name.

Mid-week thoughts -

I must say, I have been very impressed by Ealey. I keep reading that C King is going to get the start this weekend - I don't have a problem with that. I am just trying to say that Ealey has looked really good for a freshman running behind a pitiful offensive line. He also had a great catch coming out of the backfield. I am excited about the upcoming year after he has some time to really prepare for the season!

Anyone notice how many Florida defenders were around AJ Green every time the ball was in the air coming in his direction? It was at least two and sometimes four and five. Which makes me wonder who wasn't covered on the play?

I am fairly disappointed in CMR. It really annoys me that he will not/has not held Willie accountable for the play of his defense.
We are getting annihilated on defense, we have been for a while now, yet nothing is said about Willie and his inadequate performances. The Georgia defense has been feeble all year, what is going to happen if we lose to Auburn? Auburn has toasted some defenses this year. What about Tech? What if Willie's long-lost defense gets posterized again by our in state rival? At what point do you make changes? At what point is CMR going to come out and say that he will make changes? It's at a very low point right now, how did it get this bad?

At some point someone (preferably our coach) has to be sure the job is getting done and that the program is still on the right track.

Just imagine - another tech victory because CMR neglects to act upon mediocrity. CMR doesn't want to over-react, doesn't want to hurt the feelings of his loyal assistants. I am disgusted by the thought...

What got me thinking about this was this quote by Joe Cox talking about CMR keeping him as the starter, CMR continuing to support him -

"It means a lot...It's a reality check."

Um Joe...the reality should have hit you a long time ago. Did it just now sink in that you have thrown a bushel full of int's and that the team has four losses? I guess you thought every thing was going pretty smooth huh??

Saturday was pretty bad, the uniform move was dredful, and in my opinion CMR seems a little burned out.

The game wasn't close, I must admit I had a little hope when it was 14-10 but that was quickly shot down. I watched the first half of the game again and for us to have a week off and Florida still steam roll down the field the first two drives. Did our defense have a clue? Two weeks of prep and that's how we respond?

The uniform selection sucked. CMR said that they would not do that until the team earned it. The 2009 Georgia Bulldogs haven't earned anything except four loses.

Watching CMR in the presser really stressed me out. He looked tired and uninterested - I hope he was planning a coaching shakeup. This much talent shouldn't look that bad. I still don't know that I am calling for coaches to be fired, I just think some responsibility needs to be moved around and see who will step up.

And yes I am going to bring it up again. B Evans missed an easy tackle in the second quarter when A Hernandez was headed for the first down on a HUGE third down. Not only did Evans not tackle him, he wiffed! COMPLETELY missed him.
And I ask again, where is Rambo??

How about the Oregon game? I watched the entire second half of that game and Oregon thumped USC to the tune of 600+ yards of offense.

It's been talked about on every website, Mike and Mike, sportscenter, and the Dan Patrick show but here it is again. Brandon Spikes, the class of Florida, looking to stick his finger in a hole - he must of gotten that from his bother who is serving life in prison for first degree murder.

**This actually just came out, so I wrote all of this before hand - Urban suspending Spikes for the first half of the Vandy game.

I'm not mad at you though, heck I'm glad you're here. I must admit I worked from home yesterday - my entire office had to evacuate yesterday due to some Atlanta city worker crushing a water line. (btw that seinfled clip - classic huh?) Anyways reader, I hope you have a solid and unproductive Friday. Don't get me wrong - less busy day at work for you and an allstar day in the mind of your boss.

Wherever you are, still in Georgia or already crushing whiskey drinks in Florida, help bring the Dawgs through this. How sick would it be if Georgia pulled out the upset? I mean, how much booze would you slam? And if you don't drink, well I don't know but it would still be epic!!

IF Georgia does lose, I just hope I don't have to see Brandon Spikes rip his helmet off and show that vomit-worthy pony tail - clean it up!

I don't really have any new news, there isn't really anything left out there to talk about. I will say this, watching College Football Live tonight before the Vtech vs UNC game - ESPN seems to think that this will be a blow out, AGAIN.

Now in all honesty, we can't really say Georgia will do this and Georgia will do that. Georgia has been very inconsistant all year so whatever they do on Saturday might come as a surprise, especially if it's good.

Do I have faith that the Dawgs can come out and back-hand florida, yes I do. Did I bet my savings on it, YES I DID!!
No I didn't.

I did read something that brought an instant frown to my face though. I admit, I was racing through the Florida websites and came across a piece that concerned me. CMR always talks about how his coaches make most of the decisions but before they do it they come to him first. I get it, like the CEO, is CMR not coaching hands on at all?? Also, earlier this year CMR talked about how it was hard to find time to practice special teams.

Ok. Florida fields one of the best special teams untits in the nation, who is the special teams coach - urban himself. In the article I read, Urban was asked about this week in practice and he said he helped coach the offense this week which he usually doesn't do and he said that he spent extra time with his special teams unit. Do we see a difference?

Maybe, maybe not, I will let you be the judge.

As most know...Vince Vance was arrested yesterday - driving without a valid driver's license and failure to obey traffic laws. The game hasn't even started yet and Vance already has a penalty! Not a great start...In CMR's presser on Wed night he said he will take matters in to his own hands and make sure all of the players have a valid class C drivers license.

King's day

In this game last year King saw his playing time get sacked. He also saw his quarterback get sacked on a fourth down call in the Gators redzone. That missed block that led to a turnover on downs was about the end of the season for King. You miss blocks, especially in a crucial moment and CMR will sit you down.

I know Caleb remembers what happened and we have seen him block much better this year. I hope he comes out with a chip on his shoulder - you know Florida is going to test him. He needs to set the blocking tone early and not only block someone but he needs to JACK a blue jersey up!

Media Games -

Everywhere you read the Dawgs seem to be playing the media just right. The players and CMR are down playing the fact that Meyer called timeouts at the end of last years game. I like this, do not give Florida any more gas to add to the fire.

However, these players better remember those timeouts from last year. Yes, Georgia lost last year, but they lost so bad we gave Urban the opportunity to call those timeouts. If the game was remotely close he would not have been able to waste those timeouts. Remember that - Georgia needs to go play 60 minutes of football!

Biggest key in a Georgia win:

Play Rambo the entire game, let #3 rest. We do not need the constant blown coverages and missed tackles.

In no way am I saying that it is #3's fault for Georgia's defensive struggles. Has he contributed to the struggles? Absofreakinlutely! #3 has had his share of playing time, had his chance to open eyes and it just hasn't happened, let's see RAMBO play!

Hey look, of this is not really the biggest key to the game but it sure would make me feel a lot better.

I went back and watched some Florida games from earlier in the season. As stupid as this sounds Florida's defensive line hasn't played all that great this year. Carlos Dunlap - he's a beast but he has been somewhat contained this year. A lot of teams play away from him though. Can the Dawgs do that? We are moving Clint Boling to handle Dunlap so will Bobo be able to trust the other side of the o-line? That would mean we are trying to play behind Cordy Glenn and Vince Vance - neither have held their own this year. I would also assume that when we run it on Saturday,it will likely be behind a FB. I don't think we want King or Ealey coming through the hole to meet head on with Spikes, Black, or Wright.

Now another problem Bobo will have on Saturday is what Florida might do with AJ Green?
My guess is that Haden will play him one-on-one to see if he can stay with him. If this works then Georgia will be in a lot of trouble running the ball (which we might be anyway). This will give Florida the opportunity to load the box on every play by bringing their safeties up to stop the run.

Georgia is going to need the recievers to be big in this game, AJ is really going to need some help. I have a feeling that Orson could be big in this game as well. The only problem with that will be that we need to TE's to block and if Orson isn't getting the blocking done I don't know how many snaps he will see?

There is a lot of questions surrounding this game. Will we be consistant in whatever it is that we try to do? With a week off before hand, I sure hope so!!

It's that time of year again, the Dawgs are headed down to Jacksonville for a very lopsided football game. The line in Vegas is a 17 point cake walk for the Gators.

Georgia needs to play this game with nothing to lose - the Dawgs really don't have anything to lose. Everyone and their momma thinks we are going to be blown out - let's hope that provides some EXTRA motivation!

The truth is that the Dawgs have a small chance for an upset. Our defense has not played well this year and the Gators could really abuse us. If Georgia does come out and play well on defense, our next HUGE hurdle is the offensive line. If the Dawgs can't run block and get a ground game going Joe Cox will be in for a loooong day.

I don't like Willie's bend but don't break defense but we damn sure shouldn't be playing that way come Saturday. The defense just needs to play as aggressive as possible. Willie needs to let them have that this week, do not hold it back, play tight coverage, blitz, take it all out of the bag. Let the players show what they can do, let them play aggressive, give them the opportunity to make plays. The react after the catch defense blows - give these guys a chance to be proactive and change the momentum!

I talked last week about Nickell Robey the recruit out of Frostproof high school. As expected CWM and CBM made the trip down on Friday and talked to Nickell. He claims he is 100%Georgia because CWM assured him that he was not leaving Georgia. For all of you CWM haters and fans looking for a new DC, that might be your first sign of coaching changes - there will not be one.

Since the Dawgs didn't play this weekend, CMR gave the players Saturday off. Most of the players went different directions - some went home, some stayed in Athens, a few went to the Alabama vs Tennessee game, etc.

What did the coaches do on their off day?
Mike Bobo was out recruiting a 2011 QB out of NC.
John Lilly was down in Florida checking on recruits.
Willie and McClendon were also in Florida.
Garner was all over the place meeting with 2011 DL prospects.

A Florida story...

I will not be making the trip to Jacksonville this year. I have been reading some of the Florida articles and they seem to think that Georgia is going to bow down. There is reason to think that though, we were sma-sma-smoked by Tennessee. There are Florida blogs calling the Dogs a disaster and soft. Most UF fans seem to think that this game is going to be Tebows heisman highlight film, his "famous game" of 2009...
Those thoughts are fine and so is that opinion. The florida fans should feel that way - we need to give a lot of credit to the florida fans. We, as Georgia fans need to respect their professional opinion. If you find yourself in Jacksonville looking for this "expert" opinion look for the true florida fans, the fans that have clearly been on the bandwagon for oh, 20 years...

Now that you know what to expect and who to talk to for the pre-game analysis, I need to tell you where to sit. Now understand, I have been to Jacksonville many times, and you could say that I have a biased opinion, but I have seen a lot more attractive Georgia ladies than I have florida skanks down at the cocktail party. BUT, if I was headed down to Jacksonville this year (and if I was single of course) I would be looking for this nice florida fan to do an end zone dance with...

Now-now, that was a joke. It's completely against the rules to mingle with a florida fan - that last comment was just a test. What I really want to say is that I hope everyone going down to Jacksonville represents the Dawgs well! I hope I get to see one of these from the house...

Wednesday news -

I came across some interesting news late last night, I could be late on this but I haven't heard anything about it. News is that CMR made a solo phone call to a recruit that is verbally committed to the University of Alabama. Now, at this point I do not know the reasoning behing the call. I can only assume CMR would call him in hopes to draw in to Georgia. This recruit is out of Gainesville, GA - Blake Sims. Blake is a QB/S - why does Blake mean that much to Georgia? CMR doesn't generally call recruits. We are set at QB as far a depth goes so why would Sims be interested? We have two of the absolute best Safety's verbally committed right now as well - Alec "Tree" Ogletree and Jakar "Hitman" Hamilton. As soon as I know more about this I will update. If anyone else knows anything please share.

Recruiting Notes

It's an off week for the Dogs so there's not too much going on. While there isn't too much to discuss with the current team, Georgia has recieved some bad news with a few of their recruits. It's hard to juggle the season and recruiting but it's got to be done, Georgia is going to be under a lot of fire for their performance this year. The players will be listening out for coaching changes and roster changes. CMR needs to be on fire trying to keep these recruits together and still on board with Georgia.

In case you don't know, Georgia snatched one of the best recruits out of the state of Florida. Brent Benedict OL out of Jacksonville, FL. Some think he will be the prize of the class. However, last friday Benedict blew his knee out during a game. This is not good news for the Dogs, hopefully he will fully recover and be the player everyone expected him to be. Good luck Brent!

Potentially bad news out of Florida - Nickell Robey CB out of Frostproof high school has opened the doors back up in his recruiting. His decision to do this is based on the fact that their could be some coaching changes at Georgia and because of the Dogs performace this year. Hopefully Georgia can hang on with Robey, something tells me he is gone though. Frostproof has some of the best talent in the nation year in and year out. This could be huge for Georgia, if we can just get one kid to sign with Georgia this could be a huge step for recruiting in the future. Robey said that he is going to speak with Martinez and McClendon this week about what is going on at Georgia (Martinez is going down to Frostproof this week to see Robey, that tells me that Martinez will be the DC for sure next year). He also said that he is now looking at Tennessee and that Florida is still checking up on him regularly. By the way, I know high school football can be boring but if you ever get a chance to watch a Frostproof high school football game(their games get televised sometimes) - watch it! It is incredible how good that football team is, I don't even know if they have a punter, they score at will almost every time.

Dogs step up and stop the 2-game sadness

It's Monday morning and I actually feel pretty good, the two game losing streak is over. I had a very relaxing weekend, my blood pressure on Saturday was normal for the first time this year, it was nice. My only complaint this morning would be the weather - freezing cold Monday mornings are not my thing.

So, the Dogs got it done on Saturday in front of a monster crowd of 38,340. I thought the defense played exceptional, the d-line absolutely set the tone in this game. Geno Atkins had a great day, he hammered his man all day. I thought the DB's made some great open field tackles. Reshad Jones had a very nice aggressive pick. B Evans was on the field way too much again. I'm not sure if anyone saw the long punt return Price Miller had but he was tackled late in the run from behind. One of the reasons he was tackled, B Evans is running in front of Prince...THERE IS NO ONE IN FRONT OF HIM!! All Evans has to do is block the guy, nope.

The Georgia offense looked ok, not great by any means. However, the key here is that we had a solid showing. We have a week off to get healthy and to get sharp. I hope the team uses the extra week appropriately and by appropriately I mean studying the Gators. Speaking of studying, when I was watching the UF game on Saturday Tebow said in an interview that he watches at least 4 hours of film EVERYDAY on his upcoming opponent. WOW!

Also, I am sure most saw the change on the offense. Bobo will be calling the plays from the field in Jacksonville. If you didn't know, Bobo has always called the plays from the box. He is trying the change, he seemed to like it on Saturday. I think I like it as well. Bobo can get fired up sometimes and it could be a big boost for our offense.

Again Georgia doesn't play again until October 31. The good news with that - the Dogs are expected to get back LB Akeem Dent, LB Marcus Dowtin and FB Shaun Chapas.

Another flustered friday

It's another Friday, another college football eve and I am as nervous as ever. It's going to be quick so you can continue "chopping wood" at work. Why am I nervous? Why did I reference "chopping wood"?

I'm nervous as hell because the Dawgs are a week past the UT beatdown. How will they respond? Well, that will be answered on Saturday. What did Richt say about it? "We just have to keep choppin wood"

That doesn't sound like a very confident coach.

The Georgia football team had a players only meeting yesterday. I like that, hopefully this will serve as some motivation and get us back to a "team" frame of mind. This team needs something to build on. Yes a lot of expectations are gone but it sure would be nice to win out from this point on in the season.

It sounds like UT circled the Georgia game this year as their biggest game. Kiffin has made it clear that this was the one game they wanted to win. He is making recruiting the main effort right now, I am not even sure if he cares too much about most of the other games. He has done nothing but run his mouth since beating Georgia. He is specifically calling recruits about this game. All that's fine I guess, his volunteers did win the game and it wasn't even really close. I just wish the guy would go about his business instead of running his trap. Every time the guy talks it makes me want to just knock his ass out.

Ok people, I have read some things today that seem positive.

Richt spoke today about the program:

"I have concerns about the season, of course, with the way we’ve played. As far as the program, we have a very strong program, finishing in the Coaches’ Poll 10 last year, No. 2 in the AP the year before. Six out of seven years in the top 10, that’s not bad.

"That’s the past, I understand that, but when you start talking about a program, you have to look at where we’ve been in recent history. And this season’s not over. I think when some of your main goals become less likely to be attained, it’s tough on everybody. So we’re very concerned about where this season is going and we’re battling as hard as we can battle to get things moving in the right direction this year."

OK. That doesn't mean too much to me?? We hope you aren't bailing out on this season...

Tuesday News -

Vance Cuff should be back and ready to play.

Caleb King is back in the mix. He should be ready to see the field on Saturday.

Richt said that all four running backs will be getting touches this week.

The Best news: Which I still find odd how Richt says it. This all goes back to CMR being "that" coach that cannot deal with his players. So, for the state of the defense Richt doesn't say R Jones, P Miller, and B Evans have been playing poorly. He says, "they are getting too many reps." Like, yeah they have been playing GREAT but they are just getting too many reps. Richt, just say it already!! They have playing terrible and it's time to see what someone else can do.

With that said, you fans can expect to see more of B Smith, Rambo, Cummings, and Pugh. That is if CMR sticks to his comments. He has been known to say things to the press and completely write that off on game day.

Richt also said that Wooten and Brown would see more time on the field.

I will go back to the QB situation. CMR did say that Cox is absolutely the stater still but he did say that Logan could see more valuable playing time.

This is more of a follow-up to my post yesterday. I got some feedback about Tubberville and Smart, etc. I do not know what Georgia will do if CWM is released from his coaching vacation. All I do is state my opinion on situations and try to feed you with some of the most incredible knowledge your brain cells have ever feasted upon. So, now that we have that straight. Yes, Tubbs could come to UGA, I'm just saying I don't think he will. Yes, Kirby could also come to UGA, I'm just saying I do think he will either.

With that being said - I think if you look at how CMR runs his program. I believe he would move Garner or Jancek to DC. I think Richt would give one of them a shot before bringing in an outside coach. I honestly think he would put Jancek in the spot simply to keep Garner more involved with the recruiting. If it so happens that Garner does move to DC, look for Lilly to become the recruiting coordinator. Lilly did an awesome job on the recruiting trail for FSU.

Of course all of this talk is speculation. Hopefully the Dawgs will win the next 6 and be back on track!

*I know it has been posted everywhere but if you haven't seen it, Michael Moore posted this on his Twitter after the game - "All I can say 2 the dawgnation is don’t turn your backs on us. That’s it. We need u to support us and times like this is when we need u the most.” I think this is important to understand. As mad or disappointed as you can be you still have to continue to show your support as a true fan. *Bruce Figgins is going to take a red shirt this year.

*CMR said last night on his Monday night chat that he would not be tempted to start another QB. So everyone out there wanting to see Gray get more playing time, it might not happen? We'll have to see what happens against Vandy.

*Also, CMR had this to say about coaching changes on his staff. "No one enjoyed losing 4 of 5 in 2006. But we didn’t make wholesale changes and kept working at things we thought were important. And we closed out by beating no. 5 Auburn, then Tech, then the #1 defense in the nation in the bowl game (vs Va Tech). In 2007 we struggled early on but turned it around. A lot of people expect blood, But we’re going to do what we know is best, to focus on the game this week".

Coach Richt, we have a problem

Let me start off by saying that I do not believe CMR should be fired.

What I do believe is that there needs to be some changes. Big changes, small changes, something has to change!

The defense was clueless, we can't tackle, CWM NEVER made an adjustment to the boot leg/roll out. We made Crompton look like a superstar, while every other team has made him look like a bench warmer.

The offense, if you can call it that. They huddled up and produced 3 points with 250 total yards.

This loss hurt a lot, we looked terrible. It's one thing to go out and play a good game and get beat by a better team that day. This was not the case. Georgia looked terrible, unprepared, and after the tenth roll out by Crompton I think they knew they were beat.

It hurts to watch B Evans on the field, he is so far from making plays. He isn't even close to where he needs to be, I hate to pick on the guy week after week but it's embarrassing to watch him out there. He just isn't the player we need back at safety, it's time he sits.

As far as calling out the offensive problems? Every single player on the offensive side of the ball needs to step up. Some of this could stem from Bobo's calls but it has to come back to the players as well. Like Kiffin said before the game. "Georgia's offense is the exact same offense that Richt ran at FSU in the early 90's".

Also coming out of the mouth of Kiffin was this after the game, "Georgia would not beat Tennessee again while he was at the helm".

Like I said earlier, I do not think that CMR should be fired. I do have a problem with him right now though. After the game on Saturday in his presser, he said he didn't have a problem with Bobo's play calling. Now that is a stupid response! We all know he COULDN'T be happy with it?? It's just Richt being faithful to his assistant and not telling the truth, not saying what should be said. That is an issue to me, you just played a TERRIBLE game, you embarrassed your fans and then you start dodging questions?? These are questions that the fans need answers to. CMR it is also your job to answer these questions truthfully and let all of the fans know what is going on with a program that every writer in the country is claiming to be in a downward spiral.

Something must change CMR - The way you answered the questions leaves us all in the dark. You did nothing after the game to ensure you would get things turned around. Are you at least going to try? All you said was that, "we need to be better on offense, better on defense and we need to coach better". Well, holy shit! You're a genius!

Now let me ask you. How many times are you going to say we need to get better? And how many times is it not going to translate to the field? Like I've said before, you say these things, but nothing ever happens. No one on this team is held accountable for anything. When you don't hold your players and coaches accountable, why would they change. EX. B EVANS can start each game after missing tackles, blowing coverages, not protecting over the top, not cutting his hair, basically doing nothing. So why would he change his work ethic and effort? You are going to start him anyway.

I'm ready for Richt to make some changes. Other players need to see the field, maybe move some coaches around, see who can bring something to the table.

Ok, so I have gotten some emails in and I will address them now.

1. NO. Tommy Tubberville will not get a call from Georgia. He will not be a d-coordinator for the dogs. If anything he will be a head coach next year. Plus Georgia would not dream of paying him what he would probably want.

2. YES. I would love for Kirby Smart to come to Athens and be the defensive coach. Will it happen, I doubt it. For one, he is coaching under one of the best defensive minds (Nick Saban) in all of college football. Two, Alabama would probaby pay him more to stay and Georgia just doesn't pay well. Three, Alabama is a much better team than Georgia, so why leave?

3. NO. Aaron Murray should not play this year. He needs to redshirt, he has had a tricep issue and there is just no point. After the loss to Tennesse, the season is pretty much over as far as controlling our own destiny. Let's just hope we can make a bowl game.

By the way, how about that Nebraska vs Mizzou game last night? The fourth quarter was a pretty good game..the first three quarters - Brutal!

It's the eve of another college football weekend and what a HUGE weekend it will be for the SEC.

I'm hear to talk about my Dawgs though! I know Tennessee hasn't beaten an SEC team yet but I think this game will be tough for Georgia. I say that because of our offense. We haven't moved the ball well, its either been score like lighting or punt. Georgia seems to have big play potential but I'll be damned if we can run a clock and eat yards on the ground.

That is what scares me the most, Monte will have his defense ready for us for sure. I think Bobo is going to have to be flawless for us to win this game. Bobo is going to have to call plays like a god. This toss sweep twice in a row and a option read bullshit isn't going to get it done this week. He's going to have to call plays aggressively and intelligently - that scares me as well...

Announced today also was that Ealey and Samuel would basically split the carries 50/50. Being able to establish the run will be crucial. If the Dogs are forced to pass this game we will probably be in a lot of trouble. The Dogs offensive line really needs to get it together for Saturday.

As far as the defense goes, well I can't say too much. They have looked much better the last two games. I just pray the trend contines! The game plan, stop UT from running the football. They do not pass because Crompton um...can't? So load up the d-line and hopefully we can force the kiffy baby to pass more than he pleases.

I really hope the Dogs just abuse crompton, I mean let's be honest. He sucks.

Let me start out by getting something off of my chest.

I hate the University of Tennessee!

I hate everything about Lane Kiffin, Rocky top, Neyland stadium, fat phil, orange, everything! We better not turn out to be their first SEC win damnit!

I say we put a bag over Kiffin's head and take him behind the shed, the same way UGA did smokey.

Bad News -
*Wooten has been in a green jersey this week. That could leave us short for WR's on Saturday. With that said - King (WR) will not play on Saturday against UT. King suffered a concussion against LSU.

*Caleb King is doubtful this week with a broken jaw and concussion.

*Our running game is hiding from us, where has it gone?

*Our offensive line is TERRIBLE at run blocking.

*Marcus Dowtin is doubtful for Saturday as well. He had surgery on Sunday for a torn ligament in his hand.

*B Evans is still getting a lot of playing time.

*We have the worst Special teams in the history of Georgia football.

*Tennessee has a better defense than LSU.

Good News -

*If Wooten can't play as well - Marlon Brown, the #1 recruit out of the state of Tennessee last year might get his first start. How great would it be for him to play well in front of 100,000 fans that are sure to boo him?

*Cox only had one turnover last week and I wouldn't technically count that one.

*Ealey could be that RB we need, the spark to get this team going.

*Tennessee has had a poor offense - let's hope that trend continues.

A heartbreaker

I really didn't expect Georgia to lose to LSU. I am a little short on words today. This was a crushing loss. Sitting there, eight rows back, AJ catches that ball to take the lead, suddenly I thought the Dogs had done the impossible. Yes I did think Georgia would win but as bad as they played and to still get a win, incredible! When AJ brought that pass down, I've never seen so many passionate fans celebrating the way we were!
And then from Hell the zebra decides to control the game. As quick as our emotions were positive they turned completely negative. Once the kickoff was returned all the way back to mid field you could tell everyone knew we were beat. A game decided by the ref, it was disgusting.

There are so many things to say about the game, the way Georgia played. It was aweful.

The offensive line could be the worst in the SEC. The deffensive line isn't much better. I think we had a total of 46 yards in the first half!! There are a lot of things wrong with this team. There are a lot of things wrong with this coaching staff. I know we weren't supposed to beat the #4 team, but we should damn sure be playing better than that!

Word up! It's Friday - thank you baby Jesus!

I was hauling my ass to Athens last night and wow at all the Tiger fans on their way on THURSDAY night? Damn, they are bringing it early! I honestly felt like the minority driving down 316. I sure hope there is a mighty turn out of Red and Black on Saturday.
Please come to Athens for the fall time, I'm tailgating here with some friends and they've got lots of room...you can drink your booze on the side walk, buy a bar where I hope to be drinking soon. Ok, sorry. I got carried away but you know the song right? - Dave Loggins?

Bottom line - this is the biggest game of the year in Athens, there needs to be lots of support and I hope to see you there!

What do we need from the Dogs on Saturday?

*More recievers to step up with AJ. In the ASU game the Sun Devils doubled ORSON CHARLES some and AJ GREEN. That's what the Dogs need, please double someone other than Green. If we can draw attention away from AJ, Cox needs to be sure to feed him like a growing boy.

*Offensive line needs to protect Cox, block a lot better for the run, and relax on the false starts.

*Establish a run - let the defense rest and pound their D-line. Please Bobo...please?

*Smart play from Cox - Ummm, how about we not throw in to triple coverage, EVER!

*We need total domination from the D-line. This is supposed to be a weak LSU offensive line, let's remind them of that Saturday.

*The secondary needs to read the play action better, period.

*The defense really doesn't know what to expect from Jefferson the LSU QB. He can run and he can pass. We need to make this kid pay if he runs, contain him and punish him when he decides to ride with the rock.

*Willie has got to be aware of the trick plays. Les "the hat" Miles is known in the bayou as the river boat gambler. Why you ask? Cause he's damn idiot. He takes more crazy chances than any coach. He does make it work though...we just have to remember he will try it.

*The guys need to come out with some swagger and play like they're at home! We need fire and energy early and we need to come out and judo chop their ass right in the jugular!

Let's hope this Saturday is just like the last few meetings between the Dogs and the Tigers:

#18 UGA vs #4 LSU

Georgia lines up against the #4 team in the nation this Saturday. Why is LSU #4? They are 4-0 and because they have moved up thanks to the unfortunates of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, USC, Ohio State. I wouldn't say LSU has earned the #4 spot but you can't complain, they havn't lost - at least not yet. I can see Georgia winning this game. IF Georgia can protect the football I think we have an outstanding chance.

I sure hope the Georgia fans are out strong for the game. I remember sitting in Sanford in 2004 when LSU came to town and I have never heard anything that loud in my life. It was one of the greatest feelings ever. I hope to hear the same this Saturday.

I haven't watched too much of LSU this year. I was highly intoxicated watching them play Washington and I wasn't impressed. That doesn't really mean much though, you could say my judgement was a little blurry.

From what I understand there is a lot of worries in the bayou about their Tigers. Their o-line is weak, their QB is a true sophmore and is mistake prone, and their running game ran for a wimpy 35 yards last week.

What does that mean for Georgia? Well, it tells me Houston, Owens, Adkins and Weston should have a field day. Maybe just maybe their QB will make more mistakes than ours. Bottom line is that Georgia will not win this game with 3 turnovers. We can't do it...smart play will be key. With that said, I do not want to see the play calling super safe and Georgia playing skeerd on offense.

I wanted it so bad. I wanted Georgia to jump out to a relaxing lead so we could see more of Brown, Wooten, and Gray. I wanted to see Rambo, Pugh, Commings and Smith get extesnsive playing time. (Yes, Rambo and Wooten made big plays) I wanted to see more.

Finally I though it was going to happen, Georgia jumped out to a 14-3 lead and all of sudden things changed again - The play calling was bad and the o-line wasn't getting any push.

*Seriously, what was the o-line doing? MORE false starts. We couldn't get a push to pick up these 1 yard third downs. It was Arizona State, they aren't very good, they just traveled across the country and they whipped us up front, that's bad.

*Evans out, Rambo in. Please. Rambo looked great to me Saurday night. He was all around that ball and making plays. What took so long? If the coaches would back off of Evans' jock and quit playing him because he's a senior we might have a better chance of winning. How hard is it? His last name is Rambo people! With a name like that you almost have to play him immediately, it's freakin' Rambo! Georgia now has RAMBO hunting heads in the secondary - I love it. This is what Willie Martinez said about Rambo after the game, "I should have been playing him more". No shit Willie.

*AJ Green - best WR in the country. He should be on the heisman radar. Do I think he will win it, no. Should he be in the picture at this point in the season, yes. Julio Jones, please. Julio is worthy of messaging AJ's feet after each game.

*Can I please see Logan Gray run more than the QB option?

*The defense only gave up 204 total yards on Saturday. I don't know how I can complain about it. But I still will. Yes, they only gave up 204 yards but they just didn't look good. I did like the way Martinez rifled through his players though. He changed players in and out on almost every play - he coached like the fans were upset with him...go figure? It was good to see, he seemed active and motivated on the sideline.

Tebow got pounded on Saturday. Finally it ended ugly when he was hit from the front and the back of his head bounced off of his linemans knee. It was a legal hit. Check out the video, I can say if you watch this hit, Tebow's feet come completely off the ground when the UK player hit him. It was a tough shot and hopefully Tebow will be ok. My question would be why does Urban still have Tebow in the game? This game wasn't close at all. It was 31-7 in the third and Florida was about to score again. Why is he still in the game?

Ok. This weekend we host LSU between the hedges. Who is LSU? Well they are like Georgia, they haven't played well, and they don't really have a true identity. Georgia has really escaped so far this season, now the real schedule begins. The turnovers and penalties have got to stop. I think Georgia can win this game though.

Let's hope for a great week of practice and a DRY game on Saturday.

Three words...

It's Friday, it's friday. How about that game last night? Ole Miss and Snead looked terrible. Period. One thing to note, how good is South Carolina's defensive line? They dominated the Rebs offensive line all night. That poses the question, how good did Georgia's offensive line playagainst SC? I would say very well! Good job guys!

The emails continue to pour in about how Willie has got to do something, demote Willie, fire Willie, etc. (Not sure why you guys don't post these thoughts instead of emailing me?) Anyways, I have thought about it, slept on it, drunk talked it, and I am going to calmly say this about Willie Martinez. I don't know?

I will say this as my opionion. I think Willie is a good coach, he has produced good defenses before, he didn't just lose it. I have two words the coaches need to take to task.

Accountability - CWM and CMR need to start holding these guys accountable for their play. If you don't have your head in the game or if you want to half ass tackle. Peace, throw in another guy. Give a kid a chance to show how hard he wants to play, let him show you that he can learn and wants to give it his all every play.

Expectation - To me the expectation is not set high enough. These players should know that poor play is unacceptable. Instead they talk about it after the game. Has anything changed? No. The coaches should not let them expect this, put other players in the game if your starters are getting rolled up and smoked.

I have one word for the players.

Hunger - Where is the hunger? Where is the pride? I sure haven't seen it so far...

It seems we have a tailback issue at Georgia. Who should get the rock? King or Samuel?
King looked good in his first game back, Richard fumbled twice. What will CBM do? I can say that both backs have protected Cox well this year. I would like to see King play an entire game so we can see what he looks like as the game goes on. Either way I hope both guys go out and play great this week.

I am 25-2 on the SEC season so far. I picked SC over Ole Miss but I didn't get to post for it to count. That game was going to be my upset for the week. Last week I hit my upset of Miss State over Vandy. I really think the LSU vs Miss State game could be close. Miss State is playing with a lot of confidence and the game is at home. I've still got my $$ on the Tigers though.

Where was Pete at on Saturday?

There is a report out that Pete Carroll finally looked in the mirror and decided it was best for him to get a nose job. Have you ever seen that thing? It belongs on a witch. It looks like Owen Wilson’s nose had offspring and it found a home on Pete’s face. DAMN!

All of the reports came out last Thursday that the appointment was in the near future for Pete. Apparently the Los Angeles media is taking Pete’s side claiming that the curvature of his nose was having a deathly affect on his breathing. Pete denied all the claims about him getting a nose job though; it was swept under the carpet pretty quick. Pete went so far as to say that his nose was his best feature…
All of the reports were confirmed on Saturday around 7pm that Pete had in fact gone MIA to get that schnoz fixed because he damn sure wasn’t anywhere to be found during the Trojans loss on Saturday night.
The mighty Trojans lost to a team that didn’t win a single football game last year, where you at Pete? Matter of fact the Trojans looked pretty bad. I don’t want to take anything away from Washington but there is no way USC should have lost that game. And you know Pete (and his nose) were looking at that game before the season, it was against his old assistants. I was shocked to see that the Trojans lost and even more shocked to see that Pete hasn’t done a damn thing to fix his sniffer.

On a serious note, I like Pete Carroll. A little bit. I am glad the Trojans lost, I think their SOS and the fact that USC doesn't have to play a conference title game is about a crooked as say...Pete’s nose.

Georgia:

I think everyone understands that the Dogs defense is in trouble. Well, they didn't all play bad, let's look at what they did here and there.
Justin Houston - this was his first game back from his two game suspension and he played well. First thought, no he didn't have a sack. However, he did record 7 tackles and 1 for a loss.
Owen, Adkins, & Weston - Didn't play well against the pass. They aren't really creating pressure but they are stopping the run...too bad the razorbacks didn't try to run.
Rennie Curran - He recorded 11 tackles and made a lot of plays but he didn't play a great game either. He was lost on pass coverage, the LB's said themselves that they were caught looking into the backfield instead of dropping back in to coverage.
Reshad Jones - Didn't play terrible but he didn't play great either. He is still showing that he can play physical and I like that.
Bryan Evans - Cannot play with'em, can not win with'em, cannot coach with'em. Seriously though, he looked cluless. He is late to every play, he is out of postion, he just isn't very good at coverage.
Boykin, Cuff, smith & Miller - all burned to a crisp.
Cornelius Wahington - played good again, recorded a sack (thank you).

I could talk about the offense but I mean, what can you say? They all looked good from top to bottom. The offensive line was probably the only aspect of the offense that wasn't an "A". They were pushed around at times by a weak piggy defensive line. I am sure the o-line will continue to improve though.
It seems like every week I bring up the lack of Wooten and Brown's playing time. Well this week Wooten was actually in the game a bit more. He didn't catch a pass but he did get a hand off. As for Brown, I wasn't counting but I would say he might have seen around 3-7 snaps.

This Saturday the Dogs play the Arizona State Sun Devils. So far Az State is 2-0 and is averaging 44 points per game. Through three games Az State is #1 in turnover margin, they haven't turned the ball over yet. The Dogs are dead last in turnover margin, we've turned it over NINE times in three games. Sounds like the Dogs are in for a long Saturday...

Az State's first two opponents are from non-BCS conferences - they blow. If we play decent we send them on a long plane ride home. There is no way Georgia should lose this game at home to this middle PAC-10 team. We need this win and Georgia will take care of business. I can't wait to see how the Sun Devils react when Sanford Stadium is in their ear-hole. I have a feeling that the Sun Devil fans that do make the trip will follow suit with this nice young lady and drink their loss away. I say cheers! Wow! What an offensive explosion on Saturday night! The Dogs offense looked better than ever and Joe looked on point. But I also saw a dredful razorback defense. Overall though you have to be excited about the Dogs play on offense. Two weeks in a row they have powered back from being down to outlast the SEC competitor.
I consider us very lucky so far. To surrender that many points and come away with a win is incredible. As of now Georgia is 97th in the nation in total defense...that is sad.
If the defense doesn't get any better we are in trouble, big trouble. Shootout seasons do not usually pan out too well. At some point the Dogs are going to play teams with better than average defenses. What happens when we play Tennessee and Florida? I can promise that those teams will not allow 40-50 points. Willie has got come up with a scheme that works the best for our defense. There is way too much talent to be playing as poor as we have.
Maybe the biggest surprise on that side of the ball has been our defensive line. Owens, Weston, & Adkins haven't been able to penetrate these weak offensive lines. Mallett is about as big and slow as you will ever see kickin' it in the pocket and we still couldn't get to him. It's not looking good right now, but that's what you work on so hopfefully that what the guys are doing.

What was realy nice to see? Charles and King get in the mix on Saturday. I must say I was very happy to see Orson get in the endzone. I followed his recruiting everyday and when he signed I was pumped and then to see it payoff, it was exciting! I thought Caleb looked good too, it was nice to see him the game.

I am pretty busy, I will try to update as much as I can today. Arizona State (2-0) comes to town this weekend and I will be sharing some news on them tomorrow.

Another Friday has arrived, the eve of another college football packed Saturday looms. I love it when the Dogs play at home but for the away games there is something to be said about being able to watch all of the best games being played on Saturday.

That's exactly what I will be doing too. Headed down to watch Whitewater High school take on Carrollton High tonight. Should be interesting...my friend Wes (pic: wes tailgating last year) is a coordinator for Whitewater and I will be patrolling the sidelines with him. Then a good ole DAWGS party at the house on Saturday. Can't wait to eat, drink and watch the Dogs play Saturday night!

Not much going on, it's Friday and I am ready to bounce out of the office. The Dogs practiced inside yesterday. It gave the guys some leg rest and kept them from practicing in the rain.

In CMR's presser Thursday afternoon he talked about Brown and Wooten getting playing time. He didn't say how much the two freshmen would play but he said the longer the season went on the more involved they would be. It wasn't until the fourth game last year that AJ really had a coming out party. That was against Arizona State. AJ did see a lot more playing time before that though, so we will see what happens. What we need is Georgia to get a comfortable lead and let these guys get some game time. CMR is still worried about the freshmen not knowing their assignments. There is only one way to find out coach - put'm in!

I must say I found a lot of joy in watching GT get pounded last night. Their defense looked awful and that garbage offense didn't work. Maybe it's because the players were too busy making this lame video. Miami piled up 450+ yards while tech rushed for 95 yards, while Nesbitt only connected on 6 passes. WOW! What an ass kickin! Final was 33-16

A little here, a little there

King RB is set to play on Saturday against Arkansas. Richt said that he watched King throughout the entire practice yesterday and that he looked good. He went on to say that he didn't know how many reps King would see though. My guess is that he will see at least 5-10 and you probably will not see too much of Thomas.
Also noted was the fact that Justin Houston will be posted up in the DE position. This means the Dogs will be able to go back to rotating Adkins, Owens and Weston in the middle. We need Houston to be good and fresh. Like I stated before, Mallett is slow and let's hope he's dumb.

I must say. I F'in hate Bobby Petrino. I for one am a Falcons fan so when he left the team in the middle of the season I was a little pissed off. Who does that? Petrino does. Couldn't even finish the season that he started.

That's like opening a beer and not finishing it - who does that? Petrino does.

I guess I will talk about it since I continue to hear about it. Tennessee and Florida play this weekend. In case you forgot, Lane Kiffin was hired by Tennessee and ever since, he has done nothing but crapped out of his mouth. Meyer cheated, I will sing rocky top all night after we beat the gators this year, blah, blah, blah! We get it Lane, Monte probably hated you as a child and now you're "that guy". How about relaxing a little bit and start coaching? Matter of fact shut the hell up and let your daddy do the coaching. Bottom line is that Meyer and the gay-turds will probably destroy the volunteers this weekend - ok great, I have heard enough about it.

In reality it would be good for UT to beat Florida, that would help the Dogs in the east, which is a whole other article in itself - I will say this though. It's hard to pull for Kiffin. I hate Meyer, but at least he's proved his worth. Meyer has endured a bad season, he has represented the SEC. Kiffin hasn't even played an SEC opponent yet, until you get in the grind - shut it!

Is Auburn...good? I don't know if it is too early to tell but I just watched the Tigers beat the hell out of Dan Mullen's sqad. That might not stand for much but what I saw was a tough looking Auburn offense. There was a lot of pounding the rock mixed in with some wildcat, it looked like a shade of that paul johnson bullshit trickery option, wing T, flexbone, triple option, double option, whatever the hell might work as long as we don't throw it offense. Truthfully the Tigers ran the ball well out of many different formations but they did throw the ball too. Matter of fact they threw it in the park of about 200 yards but they rolled up 390 on the grass. We will see how the Chizz ship is floating in a few weeks. Something tells me they might pull out at least an 8 win season...

Dogs need to play a complete game

So far the Dogs have played two games (1-1). We still aren't firing on all cylinders. Yes, we have a lot to work on in different areas but the turnovers and our time of possession are killing us. Three turnovers in both games, we are lucky to be 1-1 with that going on. Time of possession was basically 25 minutes for both games. It's killing our defense and only making our opponents defense stronger.

Dogs offense - Bobo has got to start pounding the football. Yes run with Samuel or King or whoever...lead them with Chapas, abuse the defense and tire them out by the second half. I don't think we should even use Thomas in the first half, use him later in the game after their defense is gassed.

We have got to start utilizing Orson Charles - he is clearly a mismatch with his speed and can be a game changer.
And of course look for AJ Green early and often. Use him often because of obvious reasons. Use him early so their defense keys to him and Cox can light up other receivers.

Dogs Defense - We have to stop the run - the Dogs defense surrendered 172 yards rushing to the Pokes and 114 to the Cocks - that will not win many games. I am not sure why our veteran line is getting pushed around but we need to get it fixed.
We need a pass rush - I hope Justin Houston comes in and crushes Mallett. We need it and he is S-L-O-W.

Overall the Dogs have played two tough games. The pigs haven't played jack shizz. It helps us because we have played competition but it favors them because they have been planning for us. Only time will tell...

Tossing a bone: What if Bobo and Richt have been hiding plays so far, plays they have been waiting to surprise the pigs with? What if that is why we haven't seen Logan, this could be his hawg dance! Maybe we haven't ran the field with Marlon, Wooten, Green and Charles because that will be our first offensive set come Saturday?!? I'm fired up! I hope we see the Dogs slaughter the Hogs Saturday night!

It's Tuesday and I almost wrecked my truck on the way to work. Apparently after one game this year (the hogs didn't play this past weekend) Bobby Petrino said he thinks his team is ready to win the SEC west in '09. I mean I like the positive attitude I guess but let's not get carried away. You beat Missouri State and have yet to face an SEC opponent and Petrino is ready to make a run?!? Maybe he means another run for the door? I strongly believe the Hogs have a good team but I'm not drinking that slop. Also out of Petrino's lying mouth - he said that the Hogs have been prepping for the Georgia game since fall practice. That's a long time to get ready for one game. Maybe Arkansas will make rings for the team if they win like the bees did...losers

One more word about Willie Martinez. I listen to Mike and Mike in the morning, every morning. I love it, if you haven't heard or seen it, check it out! On the show this morning Mike Golic brought up a great point about defenses. Dog fans liked the fire in BVG and when he left fans seem to think that a lot of "attitude" left with him.

Golic seems to think it revolves around our defensive scheme - "bend but don't break"

Fact is that football players like to attack, right? Well in a bend but don't break defense you read the offense and then react, there isn't really an attack mode. This is why you see a defense that isn't jacked all game long. They are giving up plays by design, they aren't being let loose to attack the football. Should Willie let them fly? Or is the best scheme for the Dogs a bend and don't break?

Saturday's win was HUGE for Dawgs

Georgia is now 1-1 after the Dogs beat SC 41-37 Saturday night in Sanford Stadium. How big was the win? HUGE. Not going 0-2, HUGE. Gives us confidence going in to the Arkansas game, HUGE. Deangelo Tyson swatting down the PAT, HUGE. Rennie Curran knocking the last pass of the game down, HUGE. Boykin with a 100 yard kick return and a very athletic pick, HUGE. The game was riddled with HUGE plays but aside from that we also saw a completely different Georgia team than the week before...

*Joe Cox played much better
*The offensive line played great against a tough fat SC defensive line
*Samuel ran with authority, he looked great to me
*AJ Green played excellent again
*Branden Smith can absolutely fly - when he came across the line and the seam was closing quick the kid simply down shifted and smoked the SC defense!

What I didn't like? Bobo's play calling again...
Not using Samuel like I thought he should especially at times when Samuel would get in to a groove. I have reviewed the game a few times and I believe Marlon Brown was in the game for 2 snaps and Wooten was only in the game for 1. I still don't understand that, I wish Bobo or CMR would clear the air with why these guys aren't getting snaps? Logan Gray took one snap and attempted one punt return, that's it. Orson Charles makes plays, two great catches on Saturday but Bobo still isn't using him very much...I can't explain why?
Willie Martinez played a very soft defense. We let them throw the ball underneath all game and we left the middle of the field wide open all game long. In a way I can say he called the game ok. He changed the strategy in the red zone and the Georgia defense looked great.
The scheme was partly because Nick Williams LB and Dewberry LB missed the game with hammy issues. Rod Battle DE is out for the season with a torn ACL (We get Justin Houston DE back this weekend).

It wasn't exactly pretty but it was not lacking excitement! Georgia comes out with a win, more confidence and we shat on Spurrier...that's all I asked for!
But in truth it was a great night between the hedges and the Dogs are better prepared for the Hogs.

You should be working but instead you are so excited right now all you can do is surf every web site possible trying to get your football fill. Amen, I'm with you reader! I don't blame you though...Damnit it's FRIDAY! In 33 hours our team is about to go to war between the hedges!

Back to CMR being fired - Reader, be you crazy?
The thought of that at this point is ludicrous! Ponder back to the days of Ray Goof and Jim Donnan...damn that gives me the shakes

You fire CMR and the recruiting in Florida stops, his recruiting trails are deep in that state, we lose Rodney Garner, John Lilly, and Stacy Searels. We aren't just getting rid of one coach we lose it all, the ten win seasons, the SEC rings. Twice Georgia has been close to playing for the NC, in 2002 and in 2007. Who are we going to hire? If I hear one more thing about John damn Gruden I will vomit! So who will we hire? You know Georgia isn't going to throw the bank at ANYONE!

Firing CMR is a mistake, yes maybe there needs to be some changes but as it stands CMR is giving Bobo and Willie a chance to get it right. If that continues to fail I am sure CMR will make a move. Until then I suggest we support our coach and be positive. Whaaa, that last sentence came from outer space - I'm never positive, matter of fact I am an ass when it comes to my team not playing well. Any who, it's Friday and every Friday is positive! Every team has hope on Friday, so hide your UGANATION blog screen behind your very important spreadsheet and read up!

Come Sunday after all the smoke has cleared from Saturday whether it be a W or an L - I still support my coach.

Reports are that it has nothing to do with Cox's performance but his throwing shoulder could be hurt.

Back on Richt's job being on the chopping block...

This is all I have heard since Saturday? This is not my opinion, this is what I read/hear every time the Dogs lose.

*Georgia never beats a top tier team
*Georgia doesn't seem to reload from year to year like - UF, USC, UT, OK, etc.
*Why do other teams get more from their players like - Boise State, Georgia Tech, any team that doesn't have good recruiting year in and year out...
*Why is every game close to bad teams like - vs SC 14-7 '08 / vs UK 42-38 '08 / vs Vandy 20-17 '07 / vs Troy 44-34 '07, etc. Why does UGA not handily beat these mediocre teams?
*Why is Bobo running the offense when he screws so many games up?
*How does Georgia not have a DE that can rush the passer? UGA has been in the top ten in recruiting since 2001.
*How did Alabama rush for 268 yards against a great VT defense? Saban has only been in tuscaloosie for three years, why does he already have four AWESOME running backs? The BAMA offensive line was supposed to be "revamped". UGA has been recruiting supposedly TOP running backs since FOREVER, yet we have guys who ran for 95 yards against a TERRIBLE Okie State defense and we have a veteran offensive line. WTF is going on?? How do the Dogs under perform that much?
*CMR should go back to calling the offensive plays

I don't have these answers, but I think about it all the time. I have my opinion...I will share it later. As for now I am trying to stay positive. Starting off 0-1 is a horse pill to swallow, but we lost to a team ranked ahead of us at their house. Lets look forward to Saturday against the gamecocks and pull our Dogs through. I am fired up about our first home game of the season and it's going to be a night time showdown.

It's Wednesday - I just read some disturbing news. I expressed my disappointment about the coaches not playing Marlon Brown or Rantavious Wooten against Ok State.

Tony Ball said he simply didn't realize Brown and Rantavious Wooten hadn't played against Oklahoma State. Are you kidding me? Is our WR coach that unorganized?

Marlon Brown talked to Ball about it - “He said the game was moving so fast and he was trying to find out what plays worked and what didn’t work, and he said he just forgot, it slipped his mind,” Brown said.

Mike Moore said he played 55 of the 60 offensive plays. WTF? 1)that's crazy, no one plays that much unless you're #34 2)Yes we are talking about the same Mike Moore that has never been an impact player. Georgia was hoping he would step up but this guy really isn't great and for him to play that much is just unacceptable.

Clearly Bobo and Ball struggled in the season opener; I am scared to see what's going to happen when they only have a week to prepare. The Dogs surely better get some things together this week.

I think Steve and the gamecocks will come to Athens ready to play. The SC offense wasn't too impressive either, all the more reason that spurrier will have his team ready...don't look for Steve to be distracted this week like he is in the picture...

I said yesterday that Caleb King would play this week against South Carolacky...that could be false. Word on the street is that King did not practice full contact yesterday, if he still can't practice by Thursday he most likely will not play. That is bad news for the Dogs. We need King to run with Samuel - Thomas, from what I saw on Saturday cannot run between the tackles at all.

I have waited to post because I was pretty mad about Saturday's performance - minus the first Georgia drive of 80 yards on 10 plays.
I cannot recall the last time I saw a Georgia offense look so out of it. The play calling was disturbing. The passes from Cox looked like the football was filled with helium. The offensive line was average at best. Actually I have watched the game four times since Sunday. I don't know what happened but Ben Jones and Chris Davis were a terrible pair on the line. Maybe Jones and Davis aren't 100%, I can't answer that?
I can sit here and blame a lot of people, one in particular would be Bobo. I won't do that but I have a question - Where in googly-moogly was Wooten, Lynch, Brown, & Troupe?? CMR and Bobo have done nothing but praised these guys for their practice and work ethic. Our offense was stagnant, why not give them a shot? AND Branden Smith - played some offense after CMR said he hadn't taken any snaps on that side of the ball in practice. I'm fine with the curve ball but Smith received more playing time over the freshmen actually practicing all day on offense? That seems a little odd to me...

Moving on to the Joe Cox nightmare - I like Joe Cox and I thought he threw the ball well at times. If Joe doesn't have the time to actually step up and throw the ball, he is in trouble. When Joe stepped in to the throws it was good with some zip when throwing flat footed the ball goes about 1.38 mph, maybe...I hope the energy Joe showed on Saturday was him playing sick. I didn't see a leader, I didn't see heart and I didn't see a QB who could even manage the game. I hope Joe comes out this saturday and plays like the Joe we thought we had. What if he doesn't though? Will Logan get the nod as the starter? I don't understand why Logan only played one snap at QB? Our offense was DEAD! We didn't rotate receivers AT ALL! We gave Okie State the same look all day. What kind of offensive plan did we come up with? I will go back to the Marlon Brown and Wooten comment. Why not at least throw them in there and make Ok State think about something? Bottom line is that the coaches didn't change anything and that defense that surrendered 350+ yards per game last year dominated us Saturday.

On our defense - I thought the defense played good. They gave up 24 points by looking at the scoreboard but in my opinion they only surrendered 14. And 7 of the 14 was on that great catch my Dez with about 3 minutes to go in the half. I loved the hard hits by Jones and Evans, we need their presents felt. And the hit that Jones laid on Ok State WR Justin Blackmon was not a penalty in my opinion.

This Saturday against South Carolacky the Dogs will need to be a lot better. South Carolina has an outstanding defense - SC held NC State to 133 total yards. We know that Steve will bring his best to Athens, he always does.

I hope the Dogs can get some things together, get Joe healthy, and most of all I hope the offense plays with a spark. The entire offense seemed to have no urgency, no fire. A fight before the Battle?

It's humpday people, don't get ahead of me, that means it's Wednesday. It also means that we get to see our first College football game of the '09 season...TOMORROW! I'm so excited, I think I'll drink to that.

I stumbled across an article last night about how Okie State head coach Mike Gundy doesn't think the dogs and the pokes should shake hands before the game Saturday. He seems to believe that it could result in a brawl. My questions would be why? This is something, shaking hands before the game, that the American Football Coaches Association is pushing to happen before every game.

Gundy's a man! And he's forty-two now! So maybe he needs to control his team and keep that from happening. He said his players are on edge because they have had some bad team news lately. The TE left the team, their LB tore his ACL yesterday, and their CB was just arrested.

What in Gundy's age does that have to do with fighting before a game? The media seems to think that Gundy has a hot head and likes to "punish" them if they ask him the wrong questions. Is Gundy still mad about his first meeting with the Dogs? Does this maybe have anything to do with the Dogs biting that Pokie ass 35-14 in '07?

With all of that on the table, I don't think it's a good idea either. My reason isn't because the players are upset right now. My reason is that these players have prepared for a week to skull-thump their opponents, so why play nice before the game?

I wasn't really asked this question but I started to think about what the AU Tigers have this season? I guess that is the question that no one really knows? The Tigers went 5-7 last year (frown) but could they have been a lot better without the change to the Troy spread offense? Is there enough talent on that team to compete for an SEC west title? I would think that this team could only go up from last year. They have a solid offensive coordinator in Gus Malzahn. They added Ted Roof as the defensive coordinator and a whole new group of assistants. So can the tigers offense help the defense this year? And how good will the defense be with Roof and "the Chizz" bumping heads on schemes?

I saw it again for the fourth time last night. I was getting ready to watch Favre play and ESPN decided to show the Lou Holtz National Championship prediction for 2009. First off, Lou Holtz is a DUMBASS! He has to be paying ESPN for his job, there is no one on TV I would rather NOT SEE (maybe Mark May see minute 3:38 of this video). All of the ND talk, the stuttering, the slobbering, and total bullshizz he brings to national TV is a joke.

Lou picks ND to play for the title in '09...WHAA?? Lou are you retarded? One more time, Lou are you retarded?

ND won three games in 2007, losing to powerhouses like Air Force. They did beat Duke that year, so props on reaching that goal!
In 2008 ND won seven games, this time throwing beat-downs on teams like SDSU (2-10 in '08), Washington (0-12 in '08), & Hawaii (7-7 in '08). The most impressive feat of '08 for ND was losing to Syracuse, a team that won a total of THREE games last year.

If ND plays for the title game this year I will be very ashamed. I will say this, if the Irish have any talent at all they should only lose one game this year and that would be to USC. They do not have any other ranked teams on the schedule, actually the highest ranked team they play is Michigan at #37 respectively (not really because no one likes Rich Rodriguez including his players apparently). ND has earned nothing, will earn nothing and that prediction is simply pathetic! Thanks for wasting my time Lou...

Finally football season is just a few days away! Now that we are getting close I find myself in multiple conversations everyday about the upcoming season. I truly believe that 2009 will be a good year for the dogs. I continue to hear and read bad things about the football team, what we are missing, we lost this guy, Willie Martinez can't get it done, etc. I just can't see why we are a bad team now? There were huge expectations for the dogs last year and we didn't make it happen. In 2003 we lost to LSU in the SEC Championship, so in 2004 of course there were huge expectations again. We didn't get it done and that's when the transformation happened. We lost a helluva squad after the 2004 season...

Squad - David Greene, David Pollack, Odell Thurman, Thomas Davis, Reggie Brown, & Fred Gibson.

After losing our "superstars" the dogs marched on to the field in September of 05' and began a SEC title run. None of the "experts" thought we could reload and play well with an unproven QB. The 2005 Georgia football team believed in DJ Shockley, the same way this 2009 team believes in Joe Cox. To catapult the 2005 season we started out with a tough Boise State team that the "experts" thought would have an explosive offense - they scored 13 points that day. Behind our "unproven" QB the dogs fired out 48 points between the hedges. I am keeping the faith this year, I thought we could do it last year, and the years before - I will always believe.

As I did some research on the 2005 team I discovered that the 2009 team has some key pieces that experienced that Championship. Wide Receiver Brian McClendon was on that team - he is now the running back coach. Our freshman quarterback learning from the side lines - Joe Cox. We also had another freshman on that team that started - Jeff Owens. This video from Noops Dawg fits well for the message.

I caught a segment off of ESPN last night where Todd McShay was asked the question, "What quarterback would you want if you have one game to win?"
In my opinion, if you have watched college football the last two years the answer should be simple right? As much as I loath the virgin saint down in Gainesville, that has to be your answer right?

Todd McShay takes Colt McCoy as his one game wonder. Todd needs to loosen that gangsta tie and give me a reason he chose Colt over holiness Tebow. Both quarterbacks have all the skills to win at the collegiate level, but Timmy seems to NOT lose when it matters most. I'm putting my pocket change on the virgin.
Maybe there is an argument for Sam Bradford, why would you not consider him? He only threw 50 touchdowns last year...

So we are 7 days away from the first SEC game of the 2009 season. That game is between the NC State Wolfpack and the South Carolina Cocks on Sept 3 @ 7:00pm. The SEC season is like a piece of clay sitting on the pottery spin wheel waiting to be molded into something special. I hope that special mold is an SEC title for the DAWGS. Let’s take a look at the games that I believe will shape the SEC in 2009. (These games are listed by date not by relevance)

Georgia on the road at Arkansas on Sept 19. I see this as the dogs biggest trap game of the season. Georgia is basically the first real game for the hogs. They play Missouri State on Sept 5 and then they have a bye week before the dogs come to town.

LSU in Athens on Oct 3. The last time LSU came to Athens was a great day in my life. We pounded LSU to a 45-16 bloody mess (they deserved it after beating the dogs twice in '03). I hope the same for this year and I know I will not be anywhere other than Sanford Stadium.

Oct 10 Gators @ LSU. Yes the gators play UT on Sept 19 but I have a very strong feeling that Urbie will prove a point to the first year fairy in Knoxville. Some believe that the LSU match up will be a rematch for the SEC title, I don’t see it that way but no doubt it’s going to be a must see game.

Alabama @ Ole Missy on Oct 10. I truly believe that the tide will win this game because of their defense. Ole Miss only has an offense and if the tide can control it they will be fine, but it is a huge game for the west.

Arkansas @ the swamp on Oct 17. It is a home game for the reptiles but for some reason there has been a lot of buzz about this game being a trap game for the gators.

Halloween day at 3:30 the dogs will be in Jacksonville for the world’s largest booze fest. Georgia will have two weeks to prepare for this game. I expect a big game for the dogs and I expect Richt not to play by the rules in this game. I think he will take that extra week to make some different packages and add some trick plays. Will it be enough to knock off the 2009 golden team?

On Nov 7 the bayou Bengals travel to Tuscaloosa for what I believe will be the SEC west showdown. Whoever wins that game will be representing the west.

UF@ South Carolina game on Nov 14. This will be an away game for the gators and you know the ol’ball coach would love to spank Urbie…literally.

LSU @ Ole Missy on Nov 21. I am adding this game because I just noticed that LSU has a fierce schedule that I haven't heard much about. LSU plays @ UGA, the next week UF comes to town. Then on Nov 7 they play at bama and to finish @ Ole Miss on Nov 21 and then they host Arkansas on Nov 28. Those are going to be two tough stretches for “the hat” to game plan for.

The LSU Tigers will travel to Arkansas on Nov 28 for the battle of the golden boot. I know I said that the winner of the UA – LSU game would crown the winner of the west but this game could change things. Arkansas, like I have said before could be the spoiler for the west and this could be a very dangerous game for the tigers.

I know every game in the SEC matters; I'm sure that more than one team will be "upset" this year, that’s why we play the games. (You PLAY to win the GAME! – Herm Edwards Great video, me and dad we talking about this video this other day, pretty funny stuff) Anyways…Did I miss any games that should have been mentioned??

I have been thinking a lot about the season opener in Stillwater (as you can tell from previous postings). I know how I feel about the game but I got curious as to what the pokes out west thought about the GEORGIA BULLDOGS coming to town…
All I needed to do was pull up the Sports page on the Oklahoman newspaper and I got my answer…fifty percent of the headlines were about GEORGIA. Most of the headlines are about how we lost Stafford and Moreno though, headlines of what the Dogs will do without them? Looks like the pokes are looking at the past and not the future, the future that’s going to invade Stillwater on September 5.

Maybe it's just the media that is over looking the dogs...Coach Gundy has his cowboys on media lock down. He instructed his players and the media to not have contact for a ten day period recently. Looks like Gundy is trying to get his team focused while the media in Stillwater thinks the game might be over before it starts. I have a feeling the dogs are going stick a hobnail boot (click on hobnail boot for a chill) in their mouth on Sept 5th!

Bulldogs get defensive out west

The Bulldogs really need to focus on the Cowboys run attack. OSU has a great running back in Kendall Hunter, he averaged 6.5 yards per rush last year totaling 1,555 yards! So we know that Gundy is going to want to run the ball. Not only can Gundy attack us running the ball with Hunter but their QB Zac Robinson can run as well. He is one of the best dual threat QB’s in all of college football. Last year he threw for 3,064 yards and ran for 562 yards. The Dogs better be ready for the rush in this game and our defensive line might be in for a major battle. The Cowboys return four seniors on their offensive line; it’s going to be a tough day in the trenches!
I hope Willie Martinez is busy game-planning for the OK ST offense; they have a lot of weapons to plan for. I see a lot of zone in this game, since Robinson can run so well I don’t think the bulldogs can play man coverage. If we play man and the secondary is running down field with the WR’s then that will leave Robinson a lot of running room...

I think we will play zone and our secondary will play very well. Yes Dez Bryant is going to get his catches but I believe we will contain him for the most part. GEORGIA should be able to stop Hunter as well; we have an excellent D-line returning and solid line backers to fill the gaps. I predict a great game by our defense and a 1-0 start to the 2009 season!

SEC West Predictions?

I continue to look for answers in the SEC west. I know there is a ton of talent, but is there a complete team? Whose schedule is favorable? What coaches can get it done?

I look at OLE MISS and see what should be an explosive offense lead by Jevon Snead, Shay Hodge, and Dexter McCluster. OLE MISS finished last season posting scores in their last four games of 59, 31, 45, & 47 points. The Rebels offense was really hitting stride later in the season. Can they pick back up in the same form for 2009? Looking at their schedule, the Rebels start the season off very easy. They travel to Memphis for the first game and host SE Louisiana for game two, week three the Rebs roll out to face SOUTH CAROLINA. The biggest question mark to me is going to be the Rebel defense. You can’t win in the SEC without a good defense. Can OLE MISS get it together and field a respectable defense to win the west with? Is Houston Nutt the coach that can take the Rebels to their first title game?

The ALABAMA Crimson Tide is the team I think I am leaning toward as of right now. My entire reason for thinking that Bama can win the west is their defense and their coach. The defense for ALABAMA is going to be very good maybe great and Coach Saban is one of the best coaches in college football. He knows how to get his team prepared and they can win the west if their offense is ok. There are two major questions on the offensive side of the ball though. The Tide will be breaking in some new offensive linemen. The main issue with that is they will also be breaking in first year starter Greg McElroy at quarterback. One thing Saban is going to try to do is make sure that McElroy protects the football, which could present a major problem if the line cannot give him the time needed to make the right decisions. I look for a heavy dose of running with Ingram, Upchurch, and Grant (Maybe Richardson) in the first few games to get McElroy settled down. Can Bama win with a new quarterback?

The LSU tigers are a hard team to figure out. They have two good quarterbacks on the depth chart in Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee. Lee has a lot of skills, a great arm; many thought he would be the next great leader of the team. It looks like he has lost the starting job to Jefferson though. Jefferson is fairly unproven but he did play great against GEORGIA TECH in the Chick-fil-a bowl last year. LSU also has Russell Shepard, a true freshman who could see some playing time this year or at least get in some packages. Many believe Shepard to be the next Michael Vick of college football. With all of the options that LSU will have, will any of these guys step up? Can the offense protect the ball this year? What about the defense? The LSU defense was not very good last year…they surrendered 52 to UGA, 51 to UF, and 31 to OLE MISS and ARKANSAS. Can John Chavis come in and tighten up this LSU defense? Will Les Miles gamble his way to the SEC title game this year?

I know I didn’t mention all of the SEC west teams… because I don’t think any other team will come from the west other than one of the three listed above. However, I am looking at ARKANSAS as a team that could spoil the west. Dates to keep in mind on that prediction…The Hogs play Bama on Sept 26, the Rebels on Oct 24, and LSU on Nov 28.

What is the strongest conference in college football? Most will tell you the SEC. The SEC has won the last three national titles. What most people that are not SEC fans argue is that the SEC teams do not play tough out of conference schedules. We in turn argue that our schedules are tough enough as it is trying to simply survive the conference. Well bulldog fans let them argue that all they want this year, but I can tell you that the University of GEORGIA will not be in the discussion. The bulldogs out of conference schedule is down right nasty! Before September is up, GEORGIA will have opened the season at #11 OKLAHOMA STATE, the next week battles SOUTH CAROLINA at home, ARKANSAS on the road and then ARIZONA STATE back at home. If you want to know what kind of season the bulldogs are going to have, September will tell it all. I hope we come out of the gate swinging this year!!

Stafford to start for Detroit’s second preseason game

Stafford is going to get the starting nod for DETROIT’S next preseason game. What does it mean for him? I would say not much as of right now. I did watch him play in the first preseason game. I was at a bar and I could not hear the TV but I know what I saw from that game. I saw a very good Matthew Stafford. Ok, it was preseason but I personally thought he played well. He was 7 of 14 with a TD and a pic. He should have been 10 of 14 but Keary Colburt had what seemed like three dropped passes in a row and had he not been wearing a helmet one of the ropes Stafford threw would have hit Colburt right in the TEETH! So I was happy to see Stafford play well. I don’t think this means that he will be the starter, but why not? Culpepper is almost done, the LIONS will not be competitive this year, so throw Stafford in and let him learn. That’s what GEORGIA did! Any thoughts, should he sit and learn or play??

Auburn Football Reality Show?

Wow! I am very surprised that the AUBURN program has agreed to have a reality TV show. Originally Houston Nutt and OLE MISS were scheduled to have the show but backed out at the last minute. I get it, I understand the concept and some of the logic. It could be great exposure, it could give recruits an idea of what to expect from AUBURN. All of that could be good for the program. There is always the other side though. The reality show will give the camera’s total access to what is going on. What if something negative happens? Then what?
It’s a roll of the dice for Gene Chizik and the AUBURN Tigers. My first opinion was that this is a terrible idea!! After thinking about it, I am retracting that thought. Let’s face it, AUBURN is getting its butt kicked by Nick Saban in recruiting (he is hurting every team in the SEC). I think this could be a good way for AUBURN to spotlight the program and grab some needed positive attention. What do you guys think?

By now everyone is aware that Stafford was the number one draft pick in last year’s NFL draft, followed up by Moreno being taken mid way through the first. I believe Richt’s pro style offensive style helped these guys in their NFL value. A lot of people are falling in love with the spread offense, but I believe that the pro set is still the way to go. The 2009 team is built for the pro set very well. This year we have a strong offensive line and a TE to throw to (Last year we only had 10 catches out of the TE position).
When the Bulldogs get out to Stillwater I think you will see a heavy dose of two things…Shotgun – 3 WR/1 RB sets so that we can spread out the Cowboys on defense and attack their inexperienced secondary and I think we will see 2 TE/2 RB/1 WR set so that we can pound the ball down their throat. The Big 12 isn’t a “running” conference so we would like to scheme opposite of their conference tendencies. Once we start moving the rock on the Cowboys, it should open up play action on that 2 TE set and lookout!
The bulldog red zone should be much improved this year as well, featuring both Green and Marlon Brown. Bobo could go 2 WR/2 TE/1 RB and let those two 6'5 weapons work downfield on undersized CBs. I think that CMR, Bobo, and Searels are smart coaches that will turn over a new leaf this year in trying to find playmakers no matter what their grade status is…

Two weeks until Stillwater, OK. What do we know?

The UGA football team kicks off the season on Sept, 5. What do we know going in to the first game of the season? Have any rookies stepped up? Do we have #1 RB? Can anyone step up and compliment A.J Green? Are we healthy? Do we have a force ready to accumulate some sacks this year? And much more..
These are questions that just about every university has about its team. Where does the University of Georgia Football team stand so far?

Who is going to tote the rock?
Everyone should know by now that CMR is going to find a way to run the ball. Ever since spring practice it has been Caleb King’s job to lose. Not that he was touted as the #1 back but he was going to have the best shot to nail it down. Well, as of last week Caleb is on the sidelines with a hamstring issue. That’s where Richard Samuel and Carlton Thomas come in. They both have played great since Caleb has been away from the practice rotation. Both Samuel and Thomas have been good running the ball but what gets me excited is the way that they have caught the ball out of the back field.

QB killer?
The Dawgs need someone to rise up and bring some pressure from the edges…BAD! So far this fall Demarcus Dobbs has been the QB killer. Word is that he has been great all fall and for some stats he stacked up three sacks in the scrimmage last Saturday night. Just hearing that gets me fired up. I am also going to throw a bone out on Reuben Faloughi. He has played excellent this fall and maybe he can step up as well.

Injuries
For the most part in 2009 the Georgia Bulldawgs are in pretty good shape. Yes, Ben Jones sprained his ankle on Tuesday but he is day to day (knock on wood). We do have a fair amount of guys in green jerseys but for the most part that is just a precaution. Quinton Banks seems to be the most serious injury at the time, If I’m not mistaken he is having his knee scoped again but will be ready for Stillwater.

Who is the 09 Mo-mass?
AJ Green is the real deal and is a staple out wide for the dawgs this year, no question marks there. Of course Green can’t play every down so who else might play wide this year? Rontavious Wooten has been filling in behind Green, apparently Wooten is known for having a knack for the deep ball. Who is going to fill the shoes of Mo-mass though? Well at this point we have some very good options, we aren’t exactly deep at WR but we are not lacking talent or size by any means. Of course we have the senior in Mike Moore, experience is great and I hope he steps up! I will be looking for Tavarres King, Isreal Troup and Marlon Brown. I don’t know how realistic it is but I can’t wait to see Green (6’5) on one side, Brown (6’5) on the other with Orson Charles (6’3) in the slot or at TE. That is a lot of speed and size to contain!
What’s Left?
We have a SOLID defensive line led by Jeff Owens, Geno Atkins, and Kade Weston. We should be very strong on both lines. For the offensive line we are looking at Ben Jones at center, Chris Davis, Trenton Sturdivant, Cordy Glenn, and Clint Boling as the starting line (sprinkle in a monster in Vince Vance and Justin “Bean” Anderson). LB core should be solid as well. We have a lot of experience, led by Rennie “Flamo” Curran, Darryl Gamble and Akeem Dent (freshman Mike Gilliard has played great this fall). In the way back we will have veterans Reshad Jones and Bryan Evans at Safety. On the wings will be Brandon Boykin and Prince Miller.
